I just figured out what some of Christian Death's lyrics mean. On the album "Catastrophe Ballet", on "This Glass House"(?) Rozz sings "We're sons of savages". In my opinion, he's saying in other wordsd, "We're goths". The Goths were originally an ancient Germanic tribe that helped in the fall of Rome. They were seen as, and referred to, as savages. Now, I know WE could take any old barbarian tribe's name, but why this one? Well, in the Renaissance era, the art of the Goth peoples were seen as inferior to the new ways of Romanticism. Besides this, in the late 1700's there arose a renewed interest in the architecture and art of the Goths. Many people, who found this Gothic architecture unappealing, started calling it "Gothic" in a derogatory manner. When this gothic revival started, soon after, there arose a new genre of fiction called "Gothic Fiction" for its tendancy to use Gothic castles as their setting.
