As long as it it stops at sucking your thumb, and not progress into diaper-wearing man-baby territory, I'm totally cool with it. Don't see how any sort of pleasure could be derived from it, though, unless your thumb tastes like caramel. Guess these people just have a regressive slant to their personality and idealise their lost childhood innocence or something. Many people do, more or less, but most lose the habit of sucking on pacifiers pretty early on. Dunno why you would want to continue such a silly habit. I mean, HELLO - that's what cigarettes are for! You can suck on something and look cool doing it!

It is a bit childish to suck your thumb... However I think it is way less harmful than smoking, drinking, or any other shitty habits that are developed by us grown-ups to handle stress.

I can't believe there are actually adults out there who suck their thumbs! I don't see how anyone could still do that! Besides, I was warned against it and told it would ruin my teeth, i.e., make them crooked and stuff. I did wind up with pretty bad teeth, even though I didn't do it for very long, and certainly not into adulthood!

That's very true, WolfMoon. I often have a drink or two to unwind after school, usually while doing my homework. And no, it doesn't affect my performance- I have a 3.5!
