Not exactly on topic but since y'all are talking about workouts it seemed like a good place to ask. Do you guys have any advice for someone trying to drop a significant amount of weight who puts on muscle mass very easily? Jake has continued to get into much better shape after boot and has dropped another inch off his waist but he has put on about 20lbs, making him heavier than the navy will allow.

Essentially he has to drop at least 10lbs by early October and I'm really not sure how he can healthily do it, I mean he is just over 220 and 6'4 (according to the navy, every doctor he has been to in the last 5 years put him at 6'6) so he isn't exactly heavy. Our eating habits are pretty darn healthy, I've even lost a few pounds in the last month without any changes other than diet and he eats the same things I do other than a glass of milk in the morning, a small snack, usually an apple, between his first and second class, and a slighty larger portion for lunch. As for working out he has three mandatory group PT sessions a week that each last about an hour, nothing he can change about those, and then he does crunches and pushups at home, he used to just do situps at home but he is trying to get excellent on his next PRT (as that would mean he only has to attend group PT once a week) and needs to be able to do more pushups for that.

Prolonged, moderate cardio like long-distance jogging will get rid of muscle. Sprinters are generally the biggest runners. Vegetables, grains, skim milk as opposed to any other form of dairy milk, beans, and white meat could all help in getting rid of fat.

Why do people always think I'm a vegan? I'm a communist, not a hippie.

Sol, according to the navy, even I'm overweight. I know the army has a weight control program who's guidelines are a 4-6 pounds a month, so I'll try to find the navy equivalent for you. 10 pounds in a few weeks isn't healthy no matter what way you look at it.

It's not something I'm super familiar with, but I know a lot of guys who take Preparation H a few days prior and wrap their stomachs with Saran Wrap for like a week. Apparently it drops water weight from making you sweat and a lot of fighters do it before they're weighted so that they can be as heavy as they can in the next weight class down.

I could have swore up and down that you used to be a vegan.

If not; get that fish meat and chicken meat. EAT IT ALL THE TIME!

Versus. Got a question.

Last week, I was a bit lax. I worked out about 4 times plus going to the show which is fairly light in the cardio area.

Anyway. I want to make up the lost time.

Is it a bad idea to workout twice a day? If I do cardio in the morning and strength training before I go to bed, would I technically be overtraining?

Missing work outs isn't going to kill you.

But if you really want to, it honestly depends what you do and where you're at. You could probably get away with abdominals every day as a guess, but I'm making assumptions based on my limited experience.

What does your cardio and strength training program look like? Swimming for cardio is a lot more taxing on compound exercises then just running or jump ropes as an example, so I really can't tell you without knowing what you actually do.

Honestly, I just follow these videos as they go along. I went with Kempo for a while, so a lot of kicks and punches in crazy combos and whatnot.

I did core synergetics once and I thought I would die.

Cardio isn't exactly the biggest problem. I had the show for a while, but now it really counts as the show is over.

But if working out twice a day isn't so bad, then cool. I just don't want to overtrain. I have a bad habit of not knowing when something should legitimately hurt. Sometimes I get injuries that I don't realize are serious until after I've done whatever it was. I tend to not take pain as seriously as I should I guess.

Anyway... don't want to come off as a braggart or anything. I'd just like to know from someone who's already fit if it's cool to train twice a day if they have the time to do it.

I don't understand how he can individually flex his abdominal muscles. My mind is blown.

Someone figured out that it was fake. The music is playing, but those pads just send an electric jolt to his bodypart when a note is played. That's how his ab muscle flexed by itself.

Still cool and funny though.

Day 38~40.

It doesn't seem like much has changed. BUT I do feel stronger and some of the vids are starting to get easier. So there's definitely some improvements.

Dude. You're high. Chest, shoulders, and traps are noticeably bigger.

I should really not be so hard on myself. I might have a bit of a body image problem that skews what I see. Heh.

Day 54.

After day 60, I'm gonna "reboot" and start all over again. I feel like I betrayed the diet a bit too much for these 60 days. The next 30, I'm gonna go super strict with it and stick to every single workout.

I think I've finally developed a healthy habit.

I like the hip cleavage.

Seriously, though. You're getting noticeably bigger. Your forearms in particular.
