It's my 'give me your goddamn money' page

So, as some of you know, I was signing up for the Cancer Research Race for Life. Well, I've actually done it now so I can't get out of it. Below is my sponsership page, I don't expect anyone here to sponser me or anything but it'd be nice if you could go look at my page, laugh at my picture and perhaps give me suggestions on how to convince people to give me their goddamn money.

The race is in June and the page can take donations until August I believe.

Mystery Gnet sponsers, thank so much. I didn't expect it it all. You made me shed a little tear, you sexy, generous bastards you. You've given me faith that not everyone in the world is a blundering thunder cunt.

Ah, excellent. I deal with my guilt about never having done the Race for Life myself by sponsoring friends (whom I suspect do it mostly to guilt-trip me). But am completely broke for the month after spending the Bank Holiday weekend in Brighton, so June is perfect.

How's the training going?

It's going quite well now. I can run two miles in about 25 minutes, I'm utterly knackered afterwards but it's pretty good going for someone as lazy as I am

Damn, that's not bad at all, especially for an exercise-phobe. I'm a pretty big waker, but it's been some years since I've broken into a run! And anyway, you've still got a good while and the RFL is only 5k, right? (Since I'm not running it, I can say "only". )

Yeah it's 5k but I'm doing BOTH the 5k ones being run in my town because I'm so damn hardcore. I'm totally against exercise, I hate it but in order to survive the races and not have my legs fall off, I've taken up swimming, walking/running everyday and I'm even considering joining the gym for an extra push.

Tell me about it. I thought it would be pretty similar, but it ended up being 80 fucking dollars. I don't give a shit about cancer that much.

Gnetters may be hateful assholes but we are still a fairly generous lot when it comes to worthy causes.

If you want folk to give you money, just advertise yourself everywhere.
It's a numbers game. If you ask 100 people, SOMEONE is going to give you money.

Won't your other boob be jealous?

(I'm doing a 5km walk on mother's day for cancer. I'd run but by knees can't cope with the jarring and I'm too shy to ask for donations)

Mother's day? Is that at a different time of year for you? I know that sounds really dumb but we already had mother's day here...........

No, my other boob won't get jealous, the right one's a bit shy anyway.

For us in the great land of Australia, it's this sunday - 8th May.

Next year hopefully I'll run, but I have to build up my leg muscles some more.

How is your mum going?

She's getting there. She looks a lot brighter than she has done for the past year though and has also put weight on rather than losing it which is a bonus since she was very underweight before. No hair loss or nausea as yet either. She starts her third round of chemo next week and is having x-rays as well to get an idea of what's going on inside at the minute. We're just trying to sort out her benefits and things now as obviously, she can't work at the minute with being so sick but the benefits system takes a while to go through everything before they reach a decision.

Sweet! In between semesters is a bad time for money for me, but when I get my tuition straightened out I'll donate ^_^

I hate going through the red tape of benefits. Fingers crossed.

Glad to hear that she's doing okay. I know you've mentioned it before but where is the cancer?

Bet she's ultra proud that you're doing a run, even though you hate running... it's awesome.

^ The cancer was confirmed in her right lung and they think it may have started to spread to her lymph nodes but they believe they have caught it before it's started to take root there. Doesn't help matters that she has COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulimnary Disease for those not in the know) in the other lung. She's fighting though, it's taking it out of her and she spends a lot of time asleep but she's fighting.

Thanks hun. Big squishy hugs for when you need them. Good on her for fighting it.

Good on ya for running. How's the training coming along?

The trainings not too bad. I have blisters and bruised toes BUT I have put on some muscle in my legs, my butts looking pretty fly and I've managed to make it to 2 miles in about 25 minutes. I've started swimming to build my stamina and I'm also running/walking on as many different types of ground (grass, concrete, running track, woodland etc etc) as I can to make things a little harder and to mix it up a bit.
