General question about the internet.

Ok So finding random internet connections while sitting out on the porch in apartment complexs good or bad? And connecting to them...good or bad? To be honest I am a little worried but the only people who live here are nice old ladies/men.

How to the internet plans work where you live? Here, we pay a base fee for [x]gb per month, and then it costs 2$ per gig for the first 25 gigs over that.
Someone hacked into our internet once (even though we added security), and ended up costing us an extra 50$.

*shrug* I'd say it depends on how internet plans work, how much bandwidth there is go to around on any given network, what you download and what sites you visit.

Most plans in the US are based on the bandwidth allowed to you and have nothing to do with usage, this is not true of all plans and some will restrict bandwidth if go over your usage, others will have extra charges for going over usage amounts. No matter what the plan is it is technically stealing if you are using someone's wifi, though I doubt you would get caught. It could, however, belong to a business that offers free wifi, no issues with using that.

There is a dark side to surfing for free: others may be able to impersonate your browser session and then you are screwed if you entered your social security number, login credentials, account number etc. Be careful!

Not to mention someone could download illegal videos/pictures onto your computer...

How do I go about purchasing a domain name? Good methods for it? And the hosting space doesn't come with it?
