I was here once before ...

So I'm not exactly new.

But I posted alot of really BAD poetry just prior to the Gothic.Net schism about a year back.

Thought I would stop back and see if there was anyone still around in this part of the galaxy from those days.

I am here. Drac is here. Jill is here. Occasionally Xng swings by.

I'm not sure if anyone else is left. I tried to get Sancty, but she declined.

Welcome back Simple Poet! I remember you, I believe I joined just before you left ( I remember reading your dramatic goodbye posted along with other's in a "so long" thread somewhere). I am glad to see you return!

I always looked up to your poetry as an inspiring example. You came back at an opportune time, as the site is beginning a (small) transformation with a literary emphasis. Anything someone of your calibre can contribute will enhance the process. Of course, there are still the same issues that plague other forums, trolls etc.

Again, welcome back!

I still remember you! And for some reason I thought of you yesterday. o_O

I THINK I convinced you to come back. I begged you to come back what, a month or so ago? So, yeah... I'm pretty sure I did. XD
Anyway, welcome back!

Wait...I was gone from the forum for about a year, what schism?

And what happened to Xnguela? I was buddies with her around the time I joined, but she just disappeared.

There was a "purge" (mass banning) of certain members who were complaining a lot about the admins. The site has healed now, and the admins are now responsive to member requests, and at least respond with explanations when they deny requests, so the site is functioning as it should instead of being distracted by political wars. Xng was one who had left, and has now returned as DarkHeartedDemoness.

Oh! That explains A LOT. And yeah, I had no idea she was DDD either. Haunted House had told me she came back, but couldn't remember her name. Why were people complaining about the admins? (This is like some sort of ancient lore)

Thanks for the warm welcome and the history lessons.

It is nice to be remembered so fondly. Draco, Jillian, HP, Maggot ... I remember all of you and hope we will all be better acquainted now that The War is Over.

So Xnguela is in disguise then, curious indeed, but good to know.

Why do I feel as if I have been welcomed back from exile ... no don't answer that.

Ophelia, I don't know you but it is good to meet you as well. I am glad this place is taking a literary bent because that is prescisely why I signed on in the first place.

In the old days, there was a twenty questions component to introductions. Well, here is my revised version ...

Now the NEW 20 Questions:

1. What's the most important thing in life to you?

To live to see and cackle with glee at the imminent abolishment of the Urban Mainstream garbage culture and a I hope to witness a return to a more literary impetus in the States

2. What's your ultimate ambition?

To FULLY immerse myself in Medieval Studies and Renaissance culture because I can't deal with this reality thrust down our gullets ... and to publish a novel and poetry collection.

3. Describe yourself in six words.

Antsy, Meticulous, Anachronistic, Pessimistic, Loyal, Cordial.

4. What's people's first impression of you? Why do you think so?

They think I am odd, and probably rightly so.

5. In what way are you physically or mentally "f-cked up"?

Physically I take meds to control my hypertensive tendencies. Mentally, I take meds to relax my mind. Spiritually, my innocence was ravaged by darker spirits and though I find a unique quality of beauty in the night and in “goth”ness, I wish I had not indulged in the more destructive habits associated with a secretly rebellious youth.
6. This sentence is false, respond!

Everything happens exactly as it does. That's Zen!

7. Are you attached, surgically or otherwise to another living being?

I am married going on six years to Mrs. Poet, my beautiful wife who does her best to understand and encourage me through my idiosyncrasies. She is truly the Regis of my Heart.

8. What is your age, location and gender?

I am male. I live close to heart of a sweltering subtropical U.S. marshland I despise ruled by a Mouse, and I am thirty something or other.

9. Why are you here?

Curiosity – if you are referring to the site. I am merely Goth by Proxy and a bit skeptical of where this counter culture is going … Otherwise, for my personal mission in life – is to return to Paris someday before I look like Uncle Fester. Not grandiose, but then again I am easily entertained.

10. Grab the closest novel you can find. What is the title and the first line in chapter 1?

John Gardner: Grendel “The old ram stands looking down over rockslides, stupidly triumphant.”

11. What type of music, films, or books do you enjoy?

Music: Live, Queen, The Doors, Tom Waits, REM, Dire Straits, Green Day, there is SO much more.

Films: Dead Poets, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Big Fish, Garden State, The Indiana Jones Movies (the Last Crusade is my favorite), The Star Wars Films (the favorite being Revenge of the Sith), Star Trek films (The Undiscovered Country is my favorite ... with all of the subtle Shakespeare in it), The Phantom of the Opera, Most Film Noir and just about any movie with Bogart, Branagh's Shakespeare films..

Authors & Poets: William Shakespeare, Ray Bradbury, JRR Tolkien, Jack Kerouac, Raymond Chandler, Ernest Hemingway, John Donne, William Butler Yeats, Virginia Woolf, Annie Proulx, Ezra Pound, Arthur Rimbaud, Czeslaw Milosz, Carl Sandburg, T.S. Eliot, James Tate, Joyce Carol Oates, "Pulp" Star Trek novels. There are many others

12. If you were to turn around and look behind you, what would you see?

A smiling volleyball wearing an Indiana Jones style hat.

13. Are there any pervasive and distracting smells you'd like us to know you are experiencing?

Not where I am writing this. I do love the aroma of thick lavender and roses.

14. Measure something near you. Tell us the measurements, but not the name of the object

23 feet.

15. If black is goth and goth is good, then why does gothic toast taste so bad?

Because as the Mad Hatter insists, only the best butter can be used to lubricate the workings of a pocket watch, and since Goths (from my experience) have little concept of time, there is no need for said butter which means when the toast ultimately burns that we must ingest it with suffrage, not unlike a medieval flagellant would.

16. If God is Love and Love is Blind and Ray Charles was Blind, does that mean Ray Charles is God?

No. In the words of the Immortal Steven Curtis Chapmena "God is God and I am not".

17. What BESIDES Black is your favorite color?

I like Silver … also deep browns and greens

18. Do you drink, smoke or uhh "other"?

With respect to this question, my greatest vice has been occasional merlot and import beer.

19. What were you doing before you hopped on ye olde internet just now?

Sleeping.

20. Why is a Bicycle?

Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie,
A fly can't bird, but a bird can fly.
Ask me a riddle and I reply
Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie.

Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie,
Why does a chicken? I don't know why.
Ask me a riddle and I reply
Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie.

Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie,
A fish can't whistle and neither can I.
Ask me a riddle and I reply
Cottleston Cottleston Cottleston Pie.

-- A. A. Milne

And so it goes ...

Welcome back again, Poet. I never saw a lot of your posts, but there was something about them I liked. Or maybe it was just your avatar what gave me bias, I dunno.
