My Conversation With A Christopher Pike Fan

7:56pmSharon

You can.

I had a talk with a couple people.

I've never even had it.

They say it's interesting.

That drinking it is nothing compared to shooting it.

I was just curious if you had tried it.
7:58pmMe

I think it would kill you.

You don't shoot whiskey and you don't shoot moonshine either.
8:00pmSharon

Well there are people that can take things once and die, or take them hundreds of times no sweat. I think it just depends, I think it's more about wether you want to risk it or not.

I think there is a certain way to prepare it.
8:00pmMe

I'm happy just drinking my booze.
8:00pmSharon

Haha

I stick with weed.

With the occasional trip to the phycadellics.

I don't get a hangover from weed.
8:01pmMe

I have gas...
8:02pmSharon

In fact I can wake and bake.

Lol

I'd like to go to burning man.
8:03pmMe

Cool
8:03pmSharon

I bet they got good shit there. I want to open my mind.

Create some shit.

Meet awesome people.

I'm more excited about the people I will meet.
8:04pmMe

I do that. I'm making my NY debut soon.

I'm in Brent's new play at the Estro-Genius festival.
8:08pmSharon

Awesome.

Bens band is really taking off, Ive been doing PR and making them look good.

Two of the guys in the band work for this production company.
8:09pmMe

cool
8:09pmSharon

Setting up stages for big acts across the country.

They were impressed with what little Ive had to work with and done.

As far as my comedy goes, physically, Im struggling.

So once all my paper work is done Ill be getting the care I need.

Once it's not a big issue Ill get on the fast track for me.

In the mean time Im having fun.

Meeting all different kinds of people.
8:12pmMe

nice
8:12pmSharon

People keep asking if I have my own clothes line, so Ive been thinking about starting one, Im gonna start by making myself some things.

I've already had my dabble with jewelry.

They love my style. That Ill always have, even when youth runs out.
8:14pmSharon

They keep trying to get me to sing.

I decide to do back up on one song they record, and they won't let up. lol

I'm like music is great but Im a comedian lol.

It don't help when I'm drunk/stoned and I start singing along to music, I keep hearing see Sharon your amazing. I'm like your drunk and full of shit! lol
8:17pmMe

Yeah. Sounds like things are going well.
8:17pmSharon

Oh yeah.
8:17pmMe

I REALLY need to see if I can find some beers.
8:17pmSharon

Like I said pains a bitch, but lifes great.
8:17pmMe

Good.
8:17pmSharon

Beer shouldn't be that hard to find.

Weed is.

Haha
8:19pmSharon

There is a 7th last vampire book coming out in my birth month!
8:19pmMe

Yeah. I'll be back. Deuces.
8:19pmSharon

I didn't think he could continue the story.
8:36pmMe

Back
8:37pmSharon

WB

It's Christopher pike btw

That's got the new book.
8:38pmMe

Yeah, he's not good.
8:38pmSharon

They are turning the now 7 book series into a movie.
8:39pmMe

I blame Twilight. An equally bad, if not worse series.
8:39pmSharon

Yeah he is. It's opinion. I think you need to read more than a couple books to peg an author.

Don't compare Christopher pike to that trash!
8:39pmMe

Nah, I wasn't impressed.

I'm not impressed by any vampire stories as of late.
8:40pmSharon

I've read other authors.
8:40pmMe

I know you have.
8:40pmSharon

I don't solely like pike.

But I appreciate him.

For what kind of writer he is.

young adult.

Most you adult books talk down to you.
8:40pmMe

I guess.
8:40pmSharon

His doesn't.
8:41pmMe

Meh.

Gaiman is FAR superior.
8:41pmSharon

He's packaged to look like r.l. Stine, but is so different.

Nope.

I'd say they are just as good.
8:42pmMe

That's like saying 2 and 2 equal 5.
8:42pmSharon

If I can get Ben to see what I see in pike I can convince anyone.
8:42pmMe

Anne Rice was the last decent vampire novelist and even she wasn't all that. Her history was more interesting than her characters.
8:42pmSharon

He's impossible.

She painted a beautiful picture.

And put fucked up characters in it.
8:43pmMe

Yeah. Rice was not bad.
8:43pmSharon

That's life.
8:43pmMe

But Pike... REALLY? This argument is about 10 years old already.
8:44pmSharon

The world is beautiful, we are just to wrapped up I'm shit to see it.

You never saw his purpose.
8:44pmMe

Where did that even come from
?
8:44pmSharon

For the way he writes.
8:44pmMe

I'm talking about Pike being a bad author.
8:44pmSharon

If you read into pike any you would know.

He's not.

He puts Sutleties in his books.
8:45pmMe

That's nice.
8:45pmSharon

That only the the ones that give him a chance to see.

It's all connected.
8:45pmMe

...No. I think you may be reading too much into it.
8:46pmSharon

I could give you two books by him and tell you to read them.

I could ask how do they relate?

You'd say none that you saw.
8:46pmMe

I don't think I care enough.
8:46pmSharon

That's the problem.

People don't care.

He speaks of change.

Not the way Obama did.

I just think your missing out. Maybe it's like buried treasure, if your not going to bother searching for it you don't deserve it anyway.

Another mans trash is another mans treasure though.
8:49pmMe

o_0 Look, it's great you have a hard on for Chistopher Pike. But seriously... if he were so good, no one would have to "give him a chance" to notice that he was good.
8:50pmSharon

By actually reading him.

You have to read an author before you judge him.
8:50pmMe

I'm sure there have been several that have and they weren't impressed.

I did read one of his books. It was forgettable.
8:50pmSharon

I don't think you have ever read one book by him. Fine have your opinions.

I remember every book I've read.

No matter how shitty.

I bet there is a Gaiman book you can read that is shit.
8:52pmMe

I did. Some vampire assassin chick. It was just titillating crap for teenage girls who want to live vicariously through a boring female image.

There have been Gaiman books that I didn't like.
8:52pmSharon

Just like there are books by pike that you could as well, but because you know how to appreciate gaiman and I know how to appreciate pike, we don't veiw them as shitty.
8:52pmMe

The Graveyard Book is incredibly hard for me to read because of all the Jungle Book parallels.
8:53pmSharon

The last vamipre, if you had gotten to the end of the book or read the others in the series you would see that it's a good story that has a message about life.
8:53pmMe

Gaiman has been considered possibly the greatest modern storyteller alive.
8:54pmSharon

It was like my bible in HS.
8:54pmMe

Yeah.

I know.

And it wasn't a good story.

Rice did better.

And Dracula is a WAY more interesting character.
8:55pmSharon

I just don't think you can judge an author on a part if a book you read. He doesn't just write about vamipres.

He has tons of books.
8:55pmMe

Honestly, Gaiman will be one of those authors that students will HAVE TO STUDY for a grade he's so good.
8:55pmSharon

Hahahaha

Hahaha
8:57pmMe

Pike writes teen stories. That's fine. He's talented enough to get you to buy his books. But seriously, it's extremely unlikely that any literature or English student will ever have to write a report on the man. His stories are simply not that relevant.
8:57pmSharon

Your baseing your love of him on weather schools will teach it? Hahaha I think Ill read the books that are banned and othe stories because I enjoy them and because I don't have to impress anyone with my likes. I like what I like regardless of what any professor or anyone thinks.

He writes adult novels as well.
8:58pmMe

You're getting too angry about me not liking this dude.

I think he's boring.

It's not a big deal.
8:58pmSharon

Not angry
8:58pmMe

Dude, whatever.

Pike will never be as relevant as Catcher in the Rye or Paradise Lost.

He's just not that good. But it's alright if you like him.

People like far worse things like Twilight for fucks sake.

It's not like you're a twi-tard or anything.

...Unless you are.
9:00pmSharon

I just am tired of how you look down your nose at things you know nothing about. I did write several book reports on him, btw. Got great grades on them too, and even had the teachers tell me pike was an untapped source. But I don't judge authors bases on that so I don't feel the need to brag about how the school approves of my choice in books.

I read the books.

So I can judge them.

I wasn't challenged.

I wasn't bored either.
9:01pmMe

Jesus.
9:01pmSharon

It wasn't a bad story.
9:01pmMe

It was a horrible story.
9:01pmSharon

But I didn't Jizz my pants over it.
9:02pmMe

If you want an archetypal circle jerk, just watch Breakfast Club.
9:02pmSharon

It was a Fucking story.
9:02pmMe

A bad story.

I'm putting this conversation on the internet.

A few thoughts:

First, I thought you were talking about this guy:

Second: Anne Rice? Seriously? Let The Right One In ran circles around Lestat prancing around on stage.

Thirdly: Not totally relevant, but about university students studying shitty literature...a guy in one of my religion classes is a English major, they're making him read Twilight right now. My roommate had to read Life Of Pi. Its possible!

First: Let The Right One In. Wouldn't know about it. I stopped chasing vampires after Rice, but I can see where she wasn't good and where she was decent. After that, all the vampire shit seemed to suck all the balls

Second: Twilight being studied? Only off the tail end of the success and SERIOUSLY, we already know it's not good writing. I'd hope that those proffs would have the sense to discuss why it's not good.

Thirdly: I don't even know who the hell that guy is. Fuck do I look like to you? A trekkie?

It was Anne Rice that made me realize vampires suck balls. It was the Twilight of my tween days, what with my sister and her friends arguing over their team boys. I hold her responsible for all the vampire romance shit. I didn't get interested again until LTROI.

I'll admit to being a bit of a trekkie, but I think it's a far better use of gray matter to have some info about the Captain that helmed the Enterprise before Kirk stored in my noggin than to know anything about this paltry teen-appeal novelist.

I like how she manages to get in a dig against Obama, and then gives the exact same rational for liking Christopher Pike that Christians use to try to get me to worship Jesus.

How can anyone equate Gaiman with Pike? Gaiman is leagues above Pike. Gaiman is out of Pike's sphere. He's so far out, he's in another galaxy.

My art prof lent her daughter's copy of Twilight to me because I was into "cute evil" things, and when I gave it back to her, half read, nearly in tears for frustration over how bad it was, and told her I couldn't finish it, she said "Good." That was my first and last experience with Twilight, beyond mentions online or posters in the store, which make me shudder.
