Type O Negative is a good band. They've had great songs and really bad songs. Many of their bad songs could have been good songs if they would have shortened them by an average of three minutes or perhaps sped the beat up to something more than 10 bpm. Either way the guy's got an awesome voice.
My favorite album is their newer "Life is Killing Me". I can actually listen to the whole thing. The albums before that I have to pick and choose tracks. Don't know if they've had anything new since... I'd go so far as to say that Type O is one of those basic necessary bands to add to any music collection for fans of the whole "gothy" genre.

I used to like Type O negative a lot before, but let's face it - it's kinda hard to listen to music that dreary for any extended period of time. I totally agree with Manimal, they have great songs and bad songs, some of which could be remedied by just what he suggested. I mean, come on, Type O - just because you happen onto a cool funereal-paced, depressive metal-groove doesn't mean you have to drag it out for five minutes while piling up the synth-organs to dramatic effect...
But that's some of what makes Type O, I guess. I actually like the World Coming Down album a lot, and also Bloody Kisses, although that's a lot more uneven.
So, pretty cool band, but with a formula for making music that doesn't make for a whole lot of potential for growth and variety. And too depressing for everyday listening. Although I do find it funny that Peter Steele talks about suicide in such a frank manner in interviews. Not really ha-ha-funny, but it's quite... unique, for an artist to do that. I'm sure his humour is as black as the lungs of a middle-aged 60-a-day smoker, though.

I think this band is fantastic, I remember seeing them on MTV back in the early `90s and being hooked .
My favourite album has to be `Bloody Kisses` as most of my favourite tracks are on this album !!!.
I was wondering if anyone has seen the classic silent film `Nosferatu` with Type O Negative`s music as the soundtrack ?. I read a review for it on www.badmovies.org and this is what they said.
`This version is remastered and includes the most enjoyable soundtrack I've seen it put to yet. Type O Negative's metal/gothic songs rarely seem out of place and then only for moments. The film itself is a masterpiece, with a tidy plot and excellent makeup for Nosferatu. `
