I had the opportunity to watch The Wizard of Oz last night on a big screen at a theater last night. It's amazing to me that I've been watching this movie for more than 4 decades and never before did I have the chance to see it in a theater.

It was also amazing to me to find that watching this "most-watched film in history" (Library of Congress) on the big screen would cause me to connect emotionally again with the characters so, after all the years of familiarity and jaded experience. But I was truly moved by some scenes in the movie, as I hadn't been in some time. So it was definitely worth it to me.

If some art house cinema or specialty theater near you ever runs a showing of this classic, I enthusiastically encourage you to see it. It will remind you of why this film has become such a beloved part of our cultural tapestry.

This cartoon ran in the newspaper the day after the last remaining main cast member, Ray "Scarecrow" Bolger, died in 1978.

Speaking of the wizard of oz. I had the wonderful experience of watching the dark side of the rainbow. It's basically wizard of oz while listening to pink floyds dark side of the moon. It's unbelievably matched at exactly the right scenes and is actually kind of scary when you're high.... but it was a kick ass experience.

some shite movie about winning a date with tad somebody or other - if you ever are tempted to watch it - go get your legs waxed instead (even if your a guy) - trust me you'll do yourself the biggest favour in the world.

Two hours of trying to establish a relationship with a hollywood star and then in the last five minutes she realises she's in love with the guy next door...zzzzzz

Alien 4: Resurection. Watched all four Alien movies in a row, and man did the second one suck.

Yes yes...if you don't have a complete grudge against "cam" movies. I def. recommend it. I'd say it's my favorite against paranormal activity/cloverfield/blair witch...bla bla bla. I'm also a fan of all exorcism movies.

I don't have anything against cam movies, but the only ones I loved were Blair Witch and [rec]. That said I haven't seen Cloverfield, ruined ending and all that.

Sounds like it would work really well with an exorcism movie, though

Cloverfield is awesome, you should see it. The goal was to create an American Godzilla and they accomplished it.

Agreed...you know they wanted to actually show a "godzilla" but they couldn't get the rights to do so. Or so I was told.

Yes it worked perfectly. It wasn't your typical super shaky deal either...there are actually interview clips within the movie so it makes it more realisitic.

The one and only thing that I didn't appreciate was the fact that in one tiny scene they used music f/x.

Resident Evil: Afterlife. It was like a mixture of Dawn of the Dead, Silent Hill, and 28 Weeks Later.
All in all I was pleasantly surprised. I came home and bought the soundtrack straight away.

Hell yes, that's Uncle Wayne for yah.

Just watched Following, Chris Nolan's first film and I can safely say he's my favorite director at the moment. But watching his films too much will make you as trapped like the characters he creates. Seriously, everyone is fucking with you and you're the only one who doesn't know.
