Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Darkwave is a confusing term.
Do you mean new darkwave or old darkwave?

Uhm, the cruxshadows, I guess, truth is I'm not a big fan of that musical genre.

I'd recommend Deine Lakaien. They're a German darkwave/synth pop duo, who create stellar minimalistic dark sounds on electronics and Ernst Horn has an absolutely gorgeous voice. Well worth checking out.

A good example of darkwave with some gothic elements would be Clan of Xymox or Xymox (same band, different sound and vocals).
They also sound like they borrow from some old school goth sounds, as well.

Let's see... I'd recommend Miranda Sex Garden (can't help but love them), Black Tape for a Blue Girl, Lacrimosa (actually, I've seen those classified as many different genres, you might have to check that one), Das Ich, Lycia, Love Spirals Downward, Cocteau Twins, This Ascension, Faith and the Muse and Autumn Tears. I might add to that list - these were the ones I could think of from the top of my head.

I definately say Clan of xymox is the best example of darkwave music
in my opinion.
