Suck a thumb

I really don't know how one can compare sucking your thumb to shitting your pants. Shitting your pants creates a disgusting odor. While sucking your thumb doesn't make you stink.

I think thumb-sucking is probably one of those unconscious habits people form, and sometimes don't break. I've known a few people who sucked a thumb or finger when they were stressed or concentrating hard. Most people grow out of it, and move on to other things, like chewing their nails, or (like me), twisting your hair.


(Yes, I twist my hair. All the time. Unconsciously, too. And it's worse when I'm stressed, but more often when I'm deep inside my own head...I also slept with a stuffed animal until I was 25. But I gave it up, and now sleep with an extra pillow. No different, just a more "acceptable" thing)

When I get stressed, I bite my nails, scratch scabs, or run one hand through my hair repeatedly.

I still suck my thumb. I wanted opinions on it because I kinda feel like an ass. I'm 21 years and still can't get the damn thing out of my mouth! I almost quit. I stopped sucking my thumb during my sleep and everything for a month. But then my Nana died (she raised me) and it popped right back in. That was two years ago and I still can't stop again.

I wish I could though because i think it maybe causing me to regress mentally when I'm stressed. I wanna grow up damn it! :x

Well, I made a bargain with my boyfriend that I won't scratch or I'll remove my nose stud. Eep! I'm definitely not scratching now! :shock:

when I'm stressed, I chew nailpolish off my nails..

I don;'t know much about thumb sucking though, like someone said earlier it is alot better tha some other habits people have developed..
