Traditional Games
I know this forum is for "media" but it said games, so I thought why not have a thread for our favorite board games??? What's your favorite board games??? Or card games??? Anything like that.
My personal favorites are:
1. Monopoly
2. Scrabble
3. Trivial Pursuit

Scotland Yard - Finding Mr. X
I love this game. I am the queen of X's - I'm hardly ever caught. I do, however, suck as a policeman in the game.

Mahjong! If you haven't played mahjong you haven't lived.
And mancala as well (thank you Korinna for reminding me what that game was called!)

I absolutely love card games. My favorite would have to be Kings Corner or B.S.

I wanted to say Scrabble, but I chose cards.
I like blackjack because I know how to count cards. It has absolutely no science to it, but almost no one tries to learn how to count cards because they think you have to do complicated equations of probability in your head, so not many people can beat me. But then again, that's because I'm not legal yet to enter a casino, so I only play with amateurs.

I play poker with my friends.
Well, "play" is overestimating my abilities when it comes to that game.
It's more like: I lose money when I hang out with my friends. Still fun though, I like math and probability, but I'm terrible at telling what cards people got, also since they are pretty bad they make some moves that are just totally ca-razy.
That's a long sentence right there. Aw well.

I don't know why Jillian, but I thought you might say cards. Don't ask why I just thought you would. He he. Scrabble is a good game, I like it.
And I am the Queen of Monopoly. I will eat you alive if you dare challenge me to a game. For instance, my dad and I played tonight. And at the end we counted our money, I had $13,?00,?00. I had won the game, and the game my brother, my boyfriend, and I played. I've been excellent at that game since I was 6. *Evil Laugh* I am the MASTER!!!!!

I love mahjong, and strategy games =) I don't know if any of my favourite games have any international equivalents, though... I usually buy such things in Germany - much cheaper than up here.

Eh. Card games aren't much for me, even though I do play them to pass the time a lot. (Especially solitaire. It's a wonderful way to ignore lectures.)
So, I suppose Monopoly. Yay for Capitalism!

I *LOVE* Scrabble! I've been playing since I was 5; my mom taught me--by the time I was 10 I could keep up with her! Now, I own all at that game! Not sure if I'm tournament level, though.
I also love Uno and spades. There's nothing better than talking crap at the card table. My family tells me I should learn to play poker because I have the "blank face" when I play, so no one can ever fathom what I'm holding.
Solitaire's cool too, but I like to learn complicated versions of the game.

Monopoly! Though I ALWAYS lose terribly.
Yahtzee is a game that uses dice. Certain rolls mean certain things. Actually, it is reminiscent of poker.
P.S. Gah! Now I feel like playing Monopoly online. Who wants to join me?

Have you heard of Generala or Cacho (excuse my spelling), Jillian? Yahtzee is basically the same thing.

I haven't given traditional games a thought for a long time, until now. Reading this thread might have even sparked a desire to dust off some of the old board games... 'cept everyone's asleep. Ah well.
Clue is my favorite, but I also like Scrabble, Battleship, Uno, and that one game that I think is called Stratego, but I might be confusing it with something else.

I forgot about Clue. I love that game, although I am not too splendid at it. He he.
And Yahtzee is a game where you roll 5 di and you add up the di for a score in a certain category. You can roll an Yahtzee, which is all your di are the same number, your a small straight where three of the di are or a large straight where 4 di are the same. Then you have your chance in case you can't get anything. Also you can add up all the 1's, 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, and 6's. But only in their selected area on the sheet. The rules go on but I think you get it. It's an okay game, I don't think it's all that fun.

I always liked Sorry myself. I always managed to bump off the other players. Good times.
Also, Scattergories is good fun, especially if you can pull obscure game and mythological references out of the air.
