Disclaimer: Its a "reflection paper", so its not exactly academic, and I'm reflecting on readings from my text book. Its also short and you've heard it from me before, only with more swear words and less attention to grammar.

I feel bad for bitching so much about my work though. Really, I do the exact same thing on the internet day in and day out, I shouldn't complain.

I get dizzy when my blood pressure goes through the floor. I freaked a nurse out once, when she tried to take it, she was like "um, I can't find it" then she took Mr Bat's to make sure the machine was working - and it was, it was just my lousy blood pressure - LOL!

I was talking to my mom over MSN and I kinda forgot who I was talking to and casually said the word "fuck". She then insisted that something must be terribly wrong. And I have been pretty upset this week because of the news, so I told her that, and "Well, when an 11 year old girl is gang ***** and the New York Times blames her because she wore make up, its a little depressing."

"Don't worry about it." "Worry about yourself." "You can't save the world." and "You can't change things, anyone with any sense in their head knows this." Were replies that kinda killed me inside. WATCH ME!

A **** victim getting blamed for her **** is everyone’s problem, you can’t just shrug that shit off. Sexual violence prevention isn’t an easy thing to advocate because there are a lot of people who would just rather look the other way and pretend that it isn’t a problem, that way they can convince themselves that it couldn’t happen to them so they don’t have to be scared. It takes a toll on you having to fight for the tiniest bit of recognition for your cause and to almost never see real change happen but it is a fight worth fighting and the victories that you do get really can make a world of difference for a lot of people.

I keep typing up things and deleting them, I just can't find the words to really express how much it hurts that my own mom would tell me that fighting this fight isn't worth it. Argh.

Thanks for putting some of it into words though, Solumina, it really does help. Think I'll get some rage popcorn and watch some Eddie Izzard to calm myself down.

I'm more than happy to help any way that I can. I've been thought the same thing with family and friends, it hurts and it makes you feel like if you can't get this person who knows and loves you to care then what chance do you have with everyone else. You just have to try your best not to get mad at them. Focus your hurt and anger on ignorance and apathy, cuz in most cases those are the roots of the problem.

Also I could totally go for some popcorn and Eddie Izzard.
