Guys takes wife's name and gets accused of fraud

http://news.**********/florida-man-a...224309320.html

Pretty much exactly what the title says, a man took his wife's name when they got married and a year later was accused of obtaining a license through fraud.

Edit: That should be y a h o o.com but for some reason this site filters it

I read that earlier today and was like, wtf? If he's already jumped through the hoops at the federal level in honor of his in laws request, then the state should get off it's ass and let him go through with it.

I swear from Arizona to the Carolina's the South holds the U.S. back fifty years.

I can't say I'm too surprised though? Like even up in Canadaland, we legalized gay marriage, but I've been told by same gender couples that they've had problems getting their name changed at all.

Are you really gonna leave Virginia out? I mean they only have some of the harshest restrictions on abortion in the US and they have this guy, who says shit like "Virginia's public universities are, at all times, subject to the control of the General Assembly.... The General Assembly has on numerous occasions considered and rejected creating a protected class defined by 'sexual orientation,' 'gender identity' or 'gender expression.' Lacking this clear authority, no state agency can reach beyond the boundaries established by the General Assembly", as their attorney general.

Not really Sol. I just figured since North Carolina was the furthest state to the East out of the South I'd mention the Carolina's. Just reading the Virginia AG stances via Wiki made me want to vomit.

Saya, it's another case where the individual state is in a pissing contest with the federal government. Whether it was Abolition, Jim Crow, or the Civil Rights Bill the southern states have consistently thrown temper tantrums while screaming "STATES RIGHTS!" even if a large part of their citizens are treated as less then that.
