Hun, a quick couple of things:

Firstly, if one of your hobbies is reading, would you do us all a favor and read over your own posts? And if the hobby is readind, then I'm not sure what that is so disregard the above.

If you do in fact like Shakespeare, why can't you spell his name properly? You'd think that as a fan, you would actively seek his works, and through that you'd see his name often enough to spell it correctly.

Third, I am assuming you were trying to answer the questions. Sadly, though, you didn't include the questions in your post, and you didn't answer all the questions. Your post currently reads like this:

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?

13. Why did you join?

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?

Does this mean that you don't have answers to the other q's?

And here was me, thinking that this person was just being very surreal and random. I don't like the post so much now that there is a context to it.

She's a Northern Irish spookykid. We had a terrible influx of them recently. Feel free to ignore or flame her, just as the older goths within the country tend to ignore or abuse the spookies. Not for being spookies, of course. It's for bringing a bad name upon goth, bring illiterate, and occasionally attempting to take over out main coffee houses.
I'm in Essex for uni now, but I've been Northern Irish for the last 18 years. I'll be back there this Christmas holiday, from the 16th December to the 14th January. I may be able to find the spookykid in question, if it's of the Belfast crowd.

People can be so hostile and rude in here sometimes, just don't pay too much attention to their criticism, they are far from perfect themselves.

Welcome aboard, Angel_of_death! =D

I hope you enjoy your stay.

Dude, if you feel that someone is being hostile and/or rude, it would serve us all better if you would say so to that person, instead of telling a new kid, "Everyone here is a bitch, ignore them."

Presumably this person wants to join an online community. If that's the case, you telling them that we're all bitches won't help them enjoy their stay. It will only serve to alienate the people you are vaguely directing your comments at.

Hi DarkHeartedDemoness,

I obviously wasn't trying to criticize and bash every single person subscribed to this forum, that wasn't my intention at all. I was just baffled at the fact of how this person was being mercilessly mocked and laughed at. I probably wasn't being clear enough, by the looks of it. What I really meant to say was that, even though he/she was not being welcomed/greeted in a friendly manner, it shouldn't keep him/her from contributing and being part of this online community. Let's not intimidate newcomers, shall we? Why can't we just all get along, or at least try to, eh? I believe we need to be a bit more tolerant. =D

Ok, I think that's all I had to say regarding this issue. I don't really feel the need to start any pointless argumentation.

Take care.

I don't see it as "intimidating the newcomers". Often, the remarks directed at people that could be construed as hostile are actually people who are irritated with others' flagrant inattention to the threads set up specifically for them. The ones that are labeled things like "For the Newbies!! Yes, this means you!!".

Perhaps this is just a difference in opinion. If you feel people are being overly rude to newcomers, maybe you should work at catching the newcomers and giving them assistance in a nicer way.

First and foremost:
Angel-of-death, this is your introductory thread so, welcome…

secondly:
lately, I kinda feel a bit insulted to see posts like that! Why is it that we can have a couple of really WICKED intro's and then some vile ones? There are people who honestly make an effort to make their intro's worth reading, regardless of how badly they spell or how weird their grammar is. To the people that try and make something of their intro's, I take my hat off! And to the others…please be more considerate. Make your first impressions worth reading…and take advice when it’s given….

If you have problems with spelling and grammar, type your text in Word or Outlook and then cut and paste it into the message box. its the best way to make sure you dont piss anyone off.
If your social skills arent that great and you tend to insult people alot, you can add a disclaimer to your signature. Possibly something that notes that you're a chronic idiot and a repeat offender.
Treat people here like you would treat people you actually respect.
If you are a pop-tart looking for attention, or a pervert looking for whatever you look for, their are actually classifieds and sites aimed at your kind.
Please have respect for people around you.

I’m not ranting or getting pissy, but you only get one first impression.

Spooky Kid is a (derogatory) term Eldergoths use on people that call themselves goths, but piss us off.
She called you Spooky Kid because of your either illiteracy or lack of respect for propper spelling and grammar.
Read the banner of the site: Bone Chilling Literary Culture.
Where do you fit in that?

Spooky kid, according to a "define:spooky kid" search on Google: "Spooky Kid is a very recent term which isn't yet widespread in the Gothic community. It is generally used in a derogatory fashion. Spooky Kids are those who devotedly listen to and follow the influence of such mainstream dark bands as Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails. The name came from the original name of Manson's band, Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. They can also be referred to (in a sometimes derogatory fashion) as Mansonites or ninnies."

And from the Encyclopedia Gothica:

"Subject: Spooky Kid
Category: Terminology/Sayings

Originally this term was synonymous with "Mansonite" since Marilyn Manson's band was originally called Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids. However, the term "Spooky Kid" has come to have a more broad reference in the gothic scene to incorporate all teens that identify with the gothic scene in order to find an identity. Such individuals are known to go overboard in makeup and dress under the premise "if a little is cool, that alot must be cooler!" (i.e. they try to be goth, which only makes them less goth.)

Goths consider the term derogatory, and find it annoying that the immature antics of spooky kids are often what is used by the media to define goth.

While goths consider spooky kids brainless poseurs, spooky kids tend to consider goths snobs and elitists due to the way they are treated by goths."

Here you go.

In fairness, Jillian, that banner doesn't really have any relevance anymore, does it? I thought it did for a while when I first joined, but there's not really much literature on this site. As an argument in favour of correct grammar usage when posting on this site, it doesn't hold much weight.

But that doesn't mean the argument is not valid. It's just valid for better reasons, i.e. since one's writing is ones only means of communication on this board, the better your writing the more people will listen and respect you. It's that simple, Angel-of-death..

I honestly don't know why I waded into this quagmire again, but I have.

The term in this case is "any way."

HAHAHAHA! :P
I sicken myself sometimes.

I just love correcting grammar

"I" is a proper noun, and is thus capitalized. "I'm" is a contraction of "I am," and thus has an apostrophe between the I and the M.

Aiden sucks.

Those are only a few corrections.

There we go, now that you hate me, I'll slowly drive you off the site.

I actually wrote a couple of the entries in that encyclopedia, years ago. Sure wish it was more comprehensive and up-to-date.
