Are you talking about people acting in costumes or a lovemaking technique?

So did that "tip the scales" for your opinion about him?

I just couldn't resist.

If I were an animal?
Probably a cat.
Sophisticated, lazy and unrusting of strangers.

It isn't no, but it is the animal I relate the most to. They are more sophisticated than, say, dogs.

I think that's a common misconception ... cats are solitary hunters, so develop an independence and aloofness that is indicative of that. Dogs are communal pack hunters, so develop a different kind of social interaction.

Individual intelligence and ability can vary widely in each breed type. Anarasha, I know you acknowledged that a little with your "generally" comment.

I had a German Sheppard that would communicate very sophisticated things to me. I came home once and it was hot in the house. He barked at me and ran into the bedroom. When I followed him into the room, he stood at the foot of the bed, looked at me, looked at the light switch then looked at the ceiling fan. He repeated this several times, so I walked over, moved my hand up to the light switch and asked him, "Is this what you want?" He responded by wagging his tail. When I flipped the switch and the ceiling fan started turning, he laid down on the floor and let out a contented sigh.

My current Papillon has communicated some equally sophisticated things to me. I think sometimes I'm not sophisticated enough to understand his language.

In general dogs are much more content to just enjoy our company without requiring anything else; that's where that misconception starts. Unconditional love doesn't appear sophisticated.

Agreed Mir.
And Ben - I see where you are coming from. It was mostly meant as a general statement as it is very dependant on the breed.
We have two small dogs at home, their breed has no english names as they are scandinavian only. But the translated name would be a Danish-Swedish Farmdog. Then we have a mixed dog with labrador genes dominant. The two small dogs are cunning but not very sophisticated in communicating or interacting.
The Labradorish dog though is one of the most kind and sophisticated beings I have met. My mother has some pain in her joints from time to time. If it's one of those nights where she's in pain, it will follow her to the bathroom, wait outside, go out to the kitchen with her and wait 'til she's done smoking, then it will walk her back to the bedroom, making sure she's okay and lie down next to her on the hard floor. If she's not in pain, the dog will sleep in it's bed basket and won't get up because it knows she'll be alright on her own.
It's a lovely animal.

Anarasha, good story. I've heard of cats exhibiting similar behavior.

I know there are differences in temperament and activity between species and even individual breeds within species. I know you were describing a legitimate general difference in your experience with dogs and cats ... I'm thinking that a different adjective that "sophisticated" is probably what you were looking for.

Although, I have seem some pretty "simple" dogs! LOL!

honestly ii hink the same can be said for dogs/cats as can be said for humans it depends on envirment those raised by and social needs. my particualar fursona is one a lot consider to be a "simple" breed of dog but i have come across a few smart ones mine for example knows how to open the fridge if shes hungry(i gotta get a lock for that she keeps stealing my carrots) my brothers on the other hand is a complete moron
