Silent Hill movie

http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/silenthill/

Is anybody else excited about seeing this movie? I am a huge Silent Hill fan and I can't wait to see it. I have played Silent Hill 2 and 3. I have 4 but I need to buy a controller for my computer because you can't control the character very well with keys. I have to say that they are the scariest games that I have ever played and I have had nightmares because of them. A bonus plus for the movie is the fact that my sex god Sean Bean is in it. So there will be gore, spookyness, and Sean bean. A perfect combination.

I've got the 'nurses' wallpaper on my computer. I have heard through the rumour mill that Silent Hill 5 is being made for either Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. We have the first and are getting the second when it is released so all of my bases will be covered.

I haven't played the game but I am assured by those who have that it is a fantastic thrill. I love the music, anyway. I'll probably be going to see the movie, but I'd much rather play the game. My guy has just gotten a fantabulous shiney new computer so reckon I'll shell out for at least 2 of the games. Which ones do you recommend?

I would get 2 and 3. Four is just about impossible to play on PC because they made the character's movements to difficult to control.

Whoa! That was certainly creepy. When I clicked the link there was a spot on my computer screen right over the girl's eye that made it look like she had a cataract. Weird.

I've never played the games. The movie looks interesting.

As far as games freaking me out, Resident Evil always gave me the heebie-jeebies. Fuckin' zombies! *shudder*

I have been anticipating this since... the end of time? Anyway, I am an enormous Silent Hill fan. I've completed 2, 3, and 4, and almost the original. I've heard this should be the best video-game movie so far (big fucking deal) and I'm going to see it tommorow if it's playing. The movie is kind of an alternate telling of the original Silent Hill game. It better be good... or I'll... I'll... whine about it?

Only played a little of the first game, but the movie certainly caught the feel and look of what I had seen of the game.

Dragged a little, but very purdy and a decent enough way to spend two hours.

Well I don't know what you think $9 is worth, that's a bloody good bottle of wine to me... (and so much more than two hours entertainment given me and alcohol..weeeee)

I'd say if you like the look of the trailer, you'll enjoy the film. Don't think it is one to get on DVD and watch over and over though.

I quite enjoyed the movie last night. It stayed very true to the feel and concept of the game, and even gave a few nods to those who played it. It was very morbid in parts and it did drag on a little, but it was still a very enjoyable film.

I heard much of the movie is devoted to showing the main character attempting to enter rooms with timed doors and such. Which is good in a video game, but less than thrilling as a spectactor sport. But I will probably go see it, anyway, during the week. I am wary after the mess that "Brotherhood of the Wolf" turned out to be.

This movie is leagues away from the steaming pile of crap that Brotherhod of the Wolf was when they made it.

*shudder*

They did an excellent job with Silent Hill and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Not to mention the Monsters were straight out of the games.

The characters/actors were pretty much straight out of the games as well.

Also seeing Deborah Unger after all of these years was pretty sweet too.

Perfect choices for all of the above.

The soundtrack was pretty cool too.

There were a couple of areas that needed more explanation, but it wasn't enough of an issue to interrupt the flow of the movie.

All in all I give it 5 Stars and I'll definitely buy it when it comes out on video.

My review:

Concept and imagery: very good

Acting and script: Baaaaaaaaad

Radha Mitchell gets a special mention from me for unemotive acting. She was chasing her daughter like she was just trying to get back money owed to her - "Hey!"

I just saw it last night and I really liked it! There was some major gore that actually creeped me out quite a bit. I really enjoyed the cinematography. The acting was a little off, but that didn't really distract me from liking the movie as a whole. I will buy it when it comes out on DVD.

Lol, Resident Evil Zero was a great game, the movies were alright but the games were better methinks. Why do zombies give you the heebi-jeebies? Most zombie movies are more comical than horrific.

Is it one of those films where it helps to have played the game?

Never played the games.

Liked the film though. Nice to see the sort of things up on the big screen that I normally see in my head when I sleep. Sort of comforting.

Hm. Come to think of it, probably best I don't play the game....

Ive only ever played the 2nd game, and that had me terrified for a good week. I went to see the film with a hope that it would mess me up just as much, but no. A naive hope, I fear. The look and feel of the piece was nice (in a gory, decrepit sort of way) but yes, the dialogue and acting was poor. Very poor. I laughed, but for all the wrong reasons.

A good effort though, all told

Melarune - People around here take to you far more kindly if you make an introduction thread in the introductions forum. So it might be a good idea to do that.

And on another note, you have a very pretty avatar.
