I'm an Adventure Sphere, designed for danger!

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)

Job: Bank Management

Hobbies: Rally car racing/rally car tuning, motorcycle restoration, track and field, cooking different things, backpack hiking, and mustaches. I consider mustaches a hobby.

I also call myself a connoisseur of Scotch and Beer, but people tend to just call me an alcoholic.

2. Where are you from?

Vancouver, Canada.

3. Who is your favorite author?

Fiction: George R.R. Martin
Science Fiction: Iain Banks
Non-Fiction: Malcolm Gladwell
Books-that-make-me-angry-at-things-but-then-I-come-to-the-sad-realization-I'll-probably-never-do-anything-about-it: Howard Zimm

4. What are your favorite films?

My absolute favorite is The Great Dictator. I also really enjoyed Life is Beautiful, Akira, The Shawshank Redemption, Bridge on the River Kwai, and Blade Runner.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?

It's raining men.

6. At your funeral?

The Star Trek Theme.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?

To be incinerated on impact by being the first guy who tried to develop faster-than-light technology and forgot to put in a break system.

8. What kind of casket would you want?

Not going to need much of one if I'm incinerated, now am I?

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?

My bad-ass lab coat.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?

Discovering things for the first time.

11. What's your favorite band?

That would depend heavily on the kind of mood I'm in. Some days I'm in the mood for stuff like Daft Punk, the Chemical Brothers, Deadmau5, Morgan Page, etc. Other days I like Aus-Rotten, Crass, Flux of Pink Indians, Rudimentary Peni, Subhumans. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Sex Gang Children, which is how I ended up here. I like bouncing between different genres, so it's hard to say who is my favorite.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?

Bachelor of Science in Biology, going for a Masters in Microbiology/Biochemistry.

And yes, I know my career field is in a completely different area than my degree.

13. Why did you join?

Because I can.

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?

Good question.

I was just talking about pursing something like that. Do you think I could bother you to tell me a little more about? I know that's really vague, but I'm not overly sure what to ask.

Also; Hi.

I'll try and cover the most common questions I get asked.

My focus right now is split between two things: Bioinformatics and HIV Virology. Bioinformatics seems like it's the more promising career wise, but virology has always been more interesting to me. It's not that there aren't jobs for people who are interested in biology, it's just a very highly competitive field right now.

I'm aiming to try and get a full research position, but realistically I can either see myself being a laboratory technician or working in R&D at a pharmaceutical company. I've entertained the idea of trying to hop on a CDC or WHO mission, but that hasn't really turned in to anything.

The coursework isn't too harsh. I managed to complete my bachelors in five years by doing night school (having a job where I could slip away to study and do work during the day time was a plus). It was pretty draining, but now that I'm on the home stretch I think it as worth it. It'll probably take me an additional year (three instead of two) to complete my masters coursework, but I like having an income too damn much to give up my job to speed up the process.

I can't really think of things to say besides that, so if you have specifics, let me know.

Would you consider beards to be in the same league as moustaches? What's your favourite type of moustache? Oh and welcome

Well I do. If I have to spend ten minutes a day working on it, it's a hobby.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yes and no.

I've got a lot of respect for people with well maintained beards. The problem with beards is that people tend to just let them go and it ends up looking very sloppy. You can let a moustache become sloppy as well, but it's a lot less common.

My favorite is the pencil moustache. I always thought it gave an air of refinement and badassery.

Just saw you like Rudimenary Peni. I'm just starting to get into those guys - could you recommend me a good starter album?

Also - pictured: refinement & badassery.

Mustaches as a hobby....do you ride them or grow them?

Pencil mustaches are, indeed, badass.
