Hello everyone

I am brand new to this site, so hopefully I can make a decent impression. I'm actually pretty new in regards to my involvement with the Goth scene. Might as well state that I am MTF trans girl, and that since I never seen myself as a guy Goth that is why it took until 26 to finally show my true self! Though throughout my life I've been treated well by the Goth culture, who reached out to me when I was so shy back in my High School days.

Let's see some of my favorite bands are Within Temptation, Nightwish, Switchblade Symphony, Stream of Passion and Leaves' Eyes. I'm a huge fan of vampires, heck I would love to become a Vampiress if they were real!

I love to write and am getting back into writing fiction as well. Things just have been a nightmare for me these last few months. Anyway hopefully I can contribute, I do have a profile picture up as well!

Thanks

The Dark Princess,

Sophia

Some of my favorites are The Hunger, The Thirst, Near Dark, Interview with a Vampire, Vampires, and as an honorable mention since I am a sucker for happy endings Queen of the Damned.

Also find the novel, Dracula, to be one of the most romantic books ever.

Welcome, Sophia! I'm so glad that you have found a way to let your true self out. It must feel as though you can finally breathe. Perhaps you have your own happy ending now.

Also, Malice is right: there is so much great music - within the subculture, on the fringes of it, and outward from there - that you really shouldn't pass up a chance to check it out on the Music Board. I think you'll find loads of things to like.

Funny, none of the bands you listed are goth.

By the way, being a vampress would not be all fun and kitsch, like most people seem to think. You would have to kill people to survive, never be allowed to see sunlight (depending on which legends you're going by) never touch water (depending on the legend, this one isn't as common), never look at a crucifix (again, depending), and you'd live forever. Let me repeat that, forever. You would live long enough to see everyone you ever know DIE.

The Royal family go hunting, what an example to give to the people they lead and that don't include me, I've seen enough pain and torture of those who can't speak...

And this is exactly why the stupidity of Twilight has such appeal to people. They'd rather change the rules than let go of their romantic notion of vampirism. Being a vampire would be better than, say, being a zombie, and imo better than being a werewolf or many other supernatural creatures, but it would still suck. Tremendously.

None of those cons sound too bad . , Also it depends on the legend as stated. I personally have never watched nor read the Twilight books, I do admit I gravitate more to the Anne Rice type of Vampire. Thanks for the friendly welcome though, I do appreciate it.

I like to think of this as the "Doctor Who Effect," because Time lords kick vampires arses EVERY time.

I think the only real appeal to being a vampire is having some magically cool power like reading other people's minds, etc...
