Halloween stabbing

Today, there was a group of guys who ganged up on and stabbed this other guy. They broke the class of the university windows and ran away while the stabbed guy limped to the bathroom leading a trail of blood behind him. I was walking down the hallway when this happened, and all I heard was glass breaking and screaming. I saw the three guys run away...
It wasn't until later that I heard that someone was actually stabbed. Man... that guy is in the hospital because of all the people that were down there, none of them did anything.
There was a whole crowd down there watching - more of them than there was of the stabbers - and it happened...
I don't know what to think about this.
I had to walk to class on main campus after that, and I didn't want to be alone. Everywhere I looked, I was afraid of someone stabbing me.
I've... never experienced anything like this...

It does. There was freaking chaos there. I think one of the girls was crying because she knew the guy who was stabbed.
Honestly, of my three years of going there, I always thought the university was safe. What a wake-up call...

See, the problem that causes shit like this is that we know what to expect for the treat, but the trick has always been somewhat of a grey area.

Well, if people didn't get stabbed every now and then, trick or treating would stop being an extreme sport.

All extreme sports should have stabbing. It would be highly vindicating to see the loser of Extreme Dodgeball impaled upon a spike.

Kids now days. Hmph. You take a perfectly good opportunity for slow poisoning and turn it into a stab and dash, over in an instant bloody mess. Hmph.

I've always been afraid of poison in my Halloween candy...

To be honest you should be more worried about the instant cavities.

We have a dentist here who has solved the cavity issue. He buys your Hallowe'en candy back so you don't get any (candy or cavities). Now there's a twist -- a dentist actually paying you for a change.

That's really sad. I'm sorry to hear it. There's been a run of stabbings, shootings, and robberies in my town, and a lot of people are feeling the same way. Things are getting out of control, and the municipal politicians don't seem to be working with the police to keep the lid on things. Gotta love it, eh?

Yeah, I know right? They're having a meeting and counselors on Monday at 9 to help with the student who have anxieties about the stabbing. And guess where I have to go? To class.... all by myself.... on main campus.... AGAIN. -.-
It is... not very comforting.

I'm really sorry to hear something like that happened, and if you're a little anxious about walking alone because of it that's so much worse. I can't think straight if I hear a moped 'cause of what happened with some guy on one of those. I'm glad i'm not in college yet because that kinda stuff happens alot here.

Yes, it does make things worse, but it's one thing I'll have to get over. I have to leave early to make it there, and everyone else has different schedules.
And... what happened with the moped, may I ask?

Pay attention to what is going on around you, don't look like a victim. Avoid bad situations when you can.

You don't have to be afraid, but you need to respect the reality of what is around you. Your safety is ultimately your own responsibility, you just cannot count on other people saving you or jumping in if something bad happens.

I know, but I still wouldn't like to be alone.
It's not so much that I'd expect one of my friends to jump in and save me. It's more that... it would feel comforting.
It's nice to talk and joke with people I'm comfortable around. It's a hell of a lot better than walking alone, unable to get my mind off the stabbing.

What kind of idiot stabs someone inside a university? For fuck's sake, if you want to stab someone; do it outside where you won't make a mess on the carpet!

You make me chuckle. :P

And Bella, sorry to hear that. Those kind of things affect you so much, even if you don't know the person..
Hope they are OK!
