And how many people besides me can't get the "live chat" to work?

are you getting a little window popping up asking to down load something?
if you aren't thats no good, if you are you have to down load it or it wont work

Yes, I get the little window, but even after that, nothing works. I'm too much of a dumbass to fix my firewalls (I believe that's the root of my problem).

as an alternative way of getting in you could enter through irc instead of the link on the page, just go to gothic.net
incase it matters ( i dont know if it does) the host is enmity.idlenet.org

I don't even get a "download" pop-up, I'm pretty sure I already have the Java plugin, though. I'll try mIRC some time.

I can get it to work every once in a while... it depends on what size hammer that I use to hit my computer with. I just never see anyone else in there.

I just use mIRC (in the rare event that I feel compelled to see if anyone is actually using the Chat feature).

Whenever I tried to use the feature on the site, I'd get the same "You need to download Java" message. I'd download it 7 times and would still be confronted with the same message everytime I tried to use the Live Chat feature. I went through the Advanced Settings on my browser, and apparently everything was configured correctly for downloads and installation... so meh. Fuck it. LOL. I just use mIRC.

I think I am logged on in mIRC, but that progam is slightly confusing. There should probably be a link to mIRC's download page on the live chat page. My guess is nobody is on because it probably doesn't work for anyone.

Most of those who the original app was setup for are now on IRC. We tend to hang out on EFNET.

#Gothic used to be big, as was #AltGothic. However, due to the EFNET wars of the late 90's, those channels are inhabited by some friendly bots now, until the day we return to actually use the channel.

Until then, we hang in...well, IM me if you want to know where everyone is these days...
