in mostly shades of black and grey(with occasional richer reds, browns, purples, and creams if i'm going for a lighter look) accessorised with obscene amounts of Swarovski crystals, finger-connector rings(hello DJ Jazzy Jeff, i know), feathers, neutral/black makeup(i frequently don warpaint), and vests. lots of vests.

basically every outfit i put together is either skintight or shows a fair amount of skin, too. i like showing off.

I would like to dress in corsets, long velvet skirts, and beautiful hats.

What I usually wear is nothing like that, unfortunately.

I dabble in Rivethead style, if anything. I always go for coats/jackets, and anything I wear under the coat is totally unneccesary because I'll never take off my coat in the first place. All of my clothes have a Military feel to them; none of them are lacking in metallic buttons or bondage straps/buckles. Same goes for my pants.

When I'm feeling 'light' I'll dress, well, lighter, just slapping on the nearest shirt (pants are optional) while I crawl to the fridge because I don't want to aggravate the pins and needles in my legs. I don't restrict my wardrobe to a singular color, though, black is definitely dominant. I avoid leather during summer, for obvious reasons.

I would prefer to dress more Victorian-like, but the clothes either take too much money to buy or too much time to make.

*sigh...*

I feel your pain

I had to accumulate my clothes over several years, since they're all 100+. The whole 'spend paycheck on clothes' thing aggravated my poverty-stricken state; I had to dress like a conformist for a couple months before getting back on my feet. What'd you ever make, clothes-wise?

^ I don't. I'd like to learn, but after work I'm usually too tired to do much more than flop in a chair and stare at the TV.

I may if I ever get the energy to do so. I'd -really- like to learn how to at least make simple tops and skirts.

^So, why should you care if some people think society is nothing but a bunch of sheeple? The older I get the more I despise people in general.

^ I get tired of the "conformist vs. Goth/Emo/Metalhead/Rapper/whatever other subculture" thing too, honestly.

Humans are humans, no matter -what- they wear. Wearing too much eyeliner isn't going to change that.

I don't call people 'conformist' unless I'm joking, but geting irked over something on a forum is taking it a bit too seriously.

There is never a such thing as 'too much' eyeliner.

It's annoying because he clearly sees himself as less of a rivethead if he has to suck it up and put on recognizable business casual/casual gear but the whole subcultural martyr complex, Fenobliv or not, gets to be pretty tiresome when age catches up but the skin is still thinner than a wet 1 ply square.

And just so you know, this is a PUBLIC forum so I am damn sure allowed to express my dislike over poorly chosen words. Really now, sheeple?

^I didn't say I felt less of a Rivethead because of wearing said clothes (FYI -I don't need clothes for my self-expression. I can go out wearing rainbow skirts and a Hello Kitty shirts, and still be Goth. It's a way of life, not a fashion expo.)

And....sorry, Lolipop....what about ply-squares? Was that an attempt at an insult or are you cracking a joke about make-up?

Yes. That's the point. She's saying that no matter what clothes she wears, she's still a Rivethead. To her, Rivethead is a 'way of life', and sure, that's fucking exceptionally stupid, but I suppose you're not to be upstaged, Tam.

^Jesus Christ how many people are going to misinterpret me today? I might as well never explain myself again on these forums, seeing as it's a complete waste of time.

^ I mentioned it because she seemed upset before about having to dress "conformist" for so long.

There's the ignore button, GM. Feel free to use it. =)

What the fuck is this "^" shit? What's wrong with quoting? I can barely tell to whom the fuck anyone is talking.

The question of whether wearing it upsets her and the question of whether wearing it interferes with her self-image are completely irrelevant to one another.

It shouldn't have to be...People treat it as such both ways anyway, though.

You know those thin ass squares that try to pass themselves off as toilet paper in shitty bathrooms?

Thumbs down

If people don't listen to Goth music and don't think it's a lifestyle than what the fuck is everybody doing here?

Well, a side effect of the Nuva Ring is that I seem to have irregular bleeding that resembles a period complete with corresponding mood swings so there you go. : P

Your icon makes me smile.

Because it's possible to like the music, the literature and accompanying kitsch without making it the focus of their lives?

i've been considering that nuva ring thing. just because of my as-of-late expeditions of molly-fueled rave mating in the grassy countryside, which of course does not allow much room for consideration of "hey i might get pregnant with this dirty rave boy's dirty rave child".

and i love my icon~

Totally possible if you're not a Goth.
