Freedom of speech or offensive?

http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/200...01_468x665.jpg

This picture came to my attention the other day while reading an article about a goth couple who were refused entry to a bus (I won't speak in detail of it as I'm aware it has been discussed here before). Although I think the way the public treated them was wrong, I can't help but look at this from the eyes of a "civvy". Do you think that their very obvious domination/submission is acceptable in public, or do you feel that this could be offensive and therefore shouldn't be done? Is it the equivalent of wearing a t-shirt saying "women are below men", or is it different to that? I'd like to hear your opinions.

Personally, I think people should just learn to deal with stuff like that. People have differences, it's unevitable, get over it. That being said, I believe that for politeness' sake, fetishes and the like should be kept in the privacy of your own home. While I have absolutely no issue with a couple that likes toes, I would much rather not see people sucking each other's toes at, say, a bus stop.

Mmm.. from a normal people point it could be offensive, yeah it could be meant as bad behavior..

For me, they could be free to do whatever they want. But when we walk in the society, there are some behaviors to follow.

The question of whether it's equivalent to the other example or not is irrelevant, as it would be entirely arbitrary.
Every symbol must be acceptable, or none is. People can't pick and choose that way. Well, they could, but it would simply be imposing one's values against the will and at the expense of the others.

I think they look silly, and deserve some looks, but offensive no. Not until she's walking on all fours and begging in public.

In high school we had Slave Day where the hockey team to raise money would auction themselves to be someone's slave for the school day, some girls made them wear leashes, no one said anything then. *shrug*

But all were expecting it.
On the other side, imagine if you were in school and you all suddenly saw a girl with a jock on a leash doing her chores. Exactly the same, but you didn't know about it.

I don't see anything wrong with their dress personally...I mean it isn't like they were fucking while standing in line.

I just don't see the offense.

I think that's horribly offensive for general public behavior. It is obviously dominant/submissive behavior, and that's for the bedroom or someplace it is to be expected (such as a club or fetish club). If I were the bus driver I would have refused them as well, on the simple ground that none of the other passengers want to see what should be personal business in a place of public accommodation.

I see what you're saying there but if it's agreed between the two of them,I don't see how it can be viewed as offensive.

I'm sure the guy didn't laso her with the chain while she was trying to get away from him.

It doesn't matter whether it was agreed. If two people are having sex on a public park bench, and it is consented, is it still not sex in a public park?

Agreed the same thing I thought, for me is not a problem what they do but as I said before, we have to respect some rules in society.

Yes it would be sex in a public park and they should be arrested at that point.

All I'm saying is if the guy wasn't holding onto the chain it would just look like a necklace, and it would've most likely gone unnoticed.

However, he was holding onto it, giving it the sexual connotation.

If he was screaming "Heel Bitch" at the top of his lungs and forcing her to degrade herself by walking around in next to nothing then yeah I could see giving the folks shit about it.

It doesn't matter what he was or was not screaming. He was holding a chain that was connected to a collar that she was wearing. No matter how you try to say it, it is a sexual act in public.

Oh come on now,A Sexual Act?

Really?

You count that as a sexual act?

At most it could be seen as a fashion accessory.

Telling the truth I saw it more as "here doggie follow me".. I never thought about sexual acts... but anyway I have my personal point of view.

I personally wouldn't bring my gf outside with a collar and leash I do agree that it is bedroom behavior but it isn't like him forcing her to give him an HJ while they're in line waiting.

That would be a sexual act.

It is not a simple fashion accessory. She is wearing a chain. He is holding it. This is known as dominance and submission, which is a sexual act, whether it was intended as such or not.

But... Wait a second... Adults i can understand, i mean, some of them think it's a sexual behavior, others think that it's a dominative thing and opinions can vary...

What about kids who see that!!!!
They will say that she's his bitch, or slave... That humans can be slaves?!!
Come on!! We all have responsibilities towards the society...

Okay if the roles were changed around would you still have the same view?

What's obscene about it?

She isn't bare chested nor was he trying to draw attention to her being chained the both of them are just walking down the sidewalk minding their own business.
