There has been a micro-nation in Australia since the 70's.. when they got the shits with the state government set farm quotas.

I sort of love the fact that the government hasn't really done anything about it.. it's very Australian. "Well.. we could send in the cops, or we could just go to the pub? What do you think, Bruce?"

Funny thing being from Texas, we already heard a lot of the bullshit a few years ago courtesy of our governor. He joked about secession but changed his tune really fast once their was a swine flu outbreak.

Two things to note here -

First, before anyone says 'those numbers are eight years old', Google a bit if you like, but here are some more up to date numbers from 2009 and 2010 that are identical plus an article explaining the numbers still hold true -

More importantly along those lines for anyone who would say 'those are old numbers', does anyone really think in the last eight years Mississippi has just taken off financially? Is there some type of technological revolution going on in Alabama that we all just missed? That question is rhetorical, we all know these areas are, and always have been deprived and live off Federal funding. Anyone who argues about the age of the numbers is ignoring the fact most red states do not produce anything and have very small cities that do not produce much of anything.

Second, the people pushing for secession were on the various media channels last night agreeing with those numbers and said that they would have all the people who couldn't afford to live there move to a blue state. I was laughing when I heard this. I mean, if all the people in red states who get government assistance of one kind of another left, there wouldn't be enough people left to sustain the few businesses they do have there. What a laugh sure!

what they don't tell you is like here in kentucky the state is republican, vote for the presidency , but the governor and the government in kentucky is democrats, so that's why they are at the top of the list, is because of the democrat governors , that needs to be kicked out

It is disgusting. If it weren't for the fact that this whole country is riddled with republicans and dems in all the same places, I'd be much more willing to agree that states should secede.


I would be MORE than happy to let reactionary white supremacists secede from the union and have their own country as long as it was JUST them and it was JUST THEM on a particular spot of land.

Unbelievable that they would level the charge that minorities voted on racial lines. That wasn't true at all. The liberals and the democrats are very diverse.

Admittedly, though I do have a dislike for Republicans, there were many of them who admitted to being embarrassed for this election. Not because Obama won, but because their party was a complete bonehead.
