How did cyber goth come about?

And is it a fusion between ravers and the punk fashion? Because to me it little resembles the goth subculture. What are your opinions on the cyber goth subculture?

It's interesting, but I don't like it.
Nearly every female cybergoth I've met is an asshole who thinks she's a model because she and her friends take shitty pictures of each other all dressed up.

The guys aren't so bad, though.

It's kind of a cool subculture but I've never delved into it myself.
As far as I know, the word 'cyberpunk' was coined to describe a sub-genre of sci-fi novel.
And then there was music with cyberpunkish lyrics and stuff.
And it grew into a crazy 'cyber' subculture, including 'cybergoth', methinks.

I may be woefully wrong here.

Remember that goth came from punk. Early goth resembles punk much more than you´d think. So I´d say it´s rave + early goth. Although I cannot say I like it much, either. There are a lot of cybers here in my city - EBM really dominates the Norwegian goth scene, unfortunately - so I get to see them a lot. Whatever works for them, I guess.

I don't see much raver influence in cybergoth culture. I for one was almost anti-rave when I "converted". The reason I turned to cybergoth was because I love sci-fi, I love escaping reality, I love gaming, and then I realised there's a culture that has aggressive electronic music [aggrotech, industrial], and is mostly centered around sci-fi. I have yet to see a similarity to ravers, other than the glowing stuff. Even the music sounds nothing like rave.

I have not met many other cybergoth females but a lot of people seem to be calling them shallow, elitist, etc [not just on here]. That kind of makes me scared to go to clubs; But so far I've only met nice cybergoths. Maybe you're all talking about cyber-scenekid; That should be a completely different subculture, only half-joking.

Cyber Goth, those are the ones with goggles with spikes on them and very futuristic clothes, right? (Not so knowledgable about the fashion section here)

Neon colors with sometimes 2 different colored fishnets, huge platforms, computer circuitry, goggles, ya know. And falls made out of anything imaginable!

Right.
If nothing else, their imagination is awesome at times.
I wouldn't dress it though. It's harder to "dress down" for a job with that kinda wardrobe.

I've always had the impression it's mostly for clubbing, and not so much for the day-to-day.

Ah. Good.
In that case, I suppose it's an interresting though.
I couldn't be bothered with it though, it looks like it is quite some work.

It looks to mee like an urban primative flavor goth. post modern if you will. We are all descended from punk but while some of us go to victorian times others go to the post apocalyptic year of 2434
