Hello from Flyttamouse

1. What do you do? (Hobbies, job)
I'm an artist and writer (or I was before I succumbed to chronic writer's block).
I also like gardening and Magic: the Gathering (mostly for the art and the social
thing).

2. Where are you from?
Manchester, UK.

3. Who is your favorite author?
Angela Carter and Margaret Atwood

4. What are your favorite films?
Lost in Translation, Nosferatu, Labryrinth.

5. What music do you want played at your wedding?
I got married six years ago. We had Widor's toccata and...something I don't
know how to spell.

6. At your funeral?
I do love Chopin's Funeral March.

7. This IS a gothic website, so... how do you want to die?
Painlessly, if I'm honest.

8. What kind of casket would you want?
Wicker. I'd like a woodland burial, but to redeem the aesthetic side of things I'd
like a horse drawn hearse (think black plumes, deep red roses...)

9. What's your FAVORITE outfit?
I like wearing black jeans, big buckley boots, a black top and something rainbow
stripy like a belt or bag. Or if I'm feeling elaborate it's more purple velvet, black
satin corsets and lace gloves.

10. What's one thing you miss about being a little kid?
I remember it not being that wonderful actually. Not that I had a bad childhood
in any way, but I think people sometimes forget what it's like...I remember being
bored and frustrated and miserable a fair amount.

11. What's your favorite band?
The Cure and Alanis Morrissette.

12. What kind of education do you have? What is/was/will be your major?
I did an english lit degree.

13. Why did you join?
I clearly don't have enough distractions from my work. I work from home and
occasionally I kind of crave human contact...

14. If the first 13 questions didn't give it away. What is your gender?
Female.

Warm welcomes, Flyttamouse.

May I ask how you came up with that name?

Isn't it from the German and Old English for bat?

Ich begrüße Sie in Gnet, Fledermaus

Thank you both for the welcome!
Um, Flyttamouse is an old name for a pipistrelle bat. I think I came across it in 'King Lear'.

Yep, it is. It's one of my own called Flittermouse, not that coincidentally! (The difference of spelling is down to it being easier to get 'Flyttamouse' than 'Flittermouse' in most forums). Hang on a minute while I go and look at your profile.

OK, that didn't help much! Are you a 'temperamental artist' in the drawing/painting sense, disorder?

I do art at school (although I am only in year 8), and I tend to just splat paint onto the paper... it looks surprising alright actually!

Thanks very much spookypurple...though it is never as up to date as it should be! I just had a look at your site...those films of yours sound interesting. We're quite into the League of Gentlemen, Mike (husband) and me. It must be cool to have other people get involved in what you've written as actors, director etc - or is it? I suppose it could be quite frustrating if they want to mess your ideas up!

Morrigan-Dubh, thanks for your welcome too...can I ask what your name means? 'Dubh' is black in Irish, isn't it? But what's the Morrigan part?

Yes, "Dubh" is the Irish for black. I'm impressed you know that
Morrigan is the Irish Celtic goddess of , well, basically violent death. I chose her because she seems to be the strongest female representation in the celtic pantheon, and I like her story.

If you are interested here's a link:

If you're not, thanks for being polite

Oh! I have a postcard of a celtic garbed-someone with a kind of crow-winged cloak who is wandering a misty battlefield, surrounded by crows. So that's you, is it? Cool. I'm very fond of mythology, folk and faerietales, legends, etc but I don't think I've ever find the Encyclopedia Mythica before...(where have I been??).
