Thanks! But in IMG_0397.jpg my coat is unzipped but because the shot is kind of dark, you probably can't tell. I am wearing this black leather waistcoat I bought at a thrift store. It was the only small one.

Do you assume no one knows what they're doing but you?
If you don't want to go to a "quack haircutter," go to a real stylist.
As for what to ask for, just ask for hair that doesn't look ridiculous.

Tell the stylist that you want to try and keep some of the length but that you want something that will flatter your face, its pretty simple.
