Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL.

What genre is this stuff?

I call it "future pop" but have a really REALLY hard time finding more music like it.... its the only stuff that I truly cant get enough of. Its not really industrial, electro, EBM, techno, trance, or any other genre I know... what would you call it?

Current bands I know....

VNV Nation (my fav.)
Icon of Coil
Rotersand
Apoptygma Berzerk (older stuff)
Covenent

Dif stuff I like (just FYI)
Combichrist (some stuff)
NIN (duh)
Rob/White Zombie
Godsmack
Disturbed

old school rock etc....
Metallica
AC/DC
Black Sabbath/Ozzy

I cant stand slow music in any form... any advice on new bands to check out?

Here's some stuff on the techno/industrial/ebm side:

Front 242
And One
Ministry
Die Krupps
KMFDM
Zeromancer
Fiendflug
Leather Strip

I don't feel like looking through my extensive library, so tell me what you like, and what you like about it, and I'll reccomend stuff.

Another good thing to use to find stuff is Pandora Internet Radio, found at Pandora.com.

that's why forums are so great, you can voice your opinions and learn good wholesome information from people who know what they're talking about...
i'm a drunk-punk...so dont listen to me...i'll just tell you to burn things, or lick the phone jack...

BTW: as far as "what I like" in techno/industrial.... I like that mix of hard hitting beat with really relentless, tight knit synth/instrumentals..... its really hard to explain, I just like a "thick" sound to the music I like, think VNV nation "Epicentre" or "Electronaut" or the SOUND of the synth/feel of the song Remove/Replace by Icon of Coil.... its hard to explain, the sound doesnt have to be the same, but it has to have that "mood" (note, Ignore the lyrics/horrid german accent of the IOC lead singer) its weird, I can ignore lyrics if I dont like them, my mind focuses on the sound of the instruments more than the lyrics (know people who are the opposite... Another good example of sound would be Dead Enough for Life by IOC.... great sound. Pretty much pick any IOC, VNV nation or Rotersand song and listen to it, LMFAO

As far as NIN, etc... I like alot of the more synth heavy electronic type songs.... buth pretty much any of the "faster" or "harder" or "heavier" NIN stuff.

Bottom line, I cant stand slow or "weak" music, plain and simple.

I like that tense sound that really cant be explained, its more a feeling or mood to the music.... Dark, dense, like you're wading through the music.... Immersive would be the word.

Jerk :-p I also listen to Yngwei Malmsteem, death metal, etc.... I just really wish I could find death metal with singers who know how to hold a mic, not digest it.

Just a thought, you might like the sweet-sweet Music that is, Rage against the Machine, Kittie, and Adema, you might enjoy a bit of Apocalyptica aswell.

This is mainly ebm/synthpop. I suggest bands like Das Ich and Diary of Dreams.

Combichrist and NIN are more industrial, and Zombie, Godsmack, and Disturbed are nu-metal/hard rock. I suggest Ministry, Skinny Puppy, or uh... Dope.

It's old-school metal. Check out Pentagram, Cathedral, Candlemass, or Testament.

I bet you'd like Informatik.

I'll gradually post bands here. Hah.

Maybe you'd like Kid 606. Not guaranteeing that one, though.

Why does this scream Rammstein? I don't know why, but to me, when I think of those three bands, I think "Rammstein".

And to Rammstein, I think OOMPH!, Unheilig, and Eisbrecher, my favorite "Neue Deutche Harte" bands.

I like the EBM bands you mentioned, and then some. Have you checked out Lights of Euphoria or Funker Vogt? I think those can fit in the EBM/elektro genre.

I call it electronic dance. Because it's NOT pop.
