Mmm, me too! I know some people over the years have criticised the framing device of the asylum, but I really like it. It gives it that "one step removed" quality so prevalent in Victorian gothic lit, it ensures that Francis' love for Jane will forever go unrequited, and it allows Cesare to live. So maybe it doesn't add that much to the story, but I've got a soft spot for romanticised madness.

Yes I was so happy with the ending...impressive for those day. And I was glad to know that Cesare was indeed a real character...gosh now I wanna watch it again ^_^

Well, as it's a silent film...

No, but really, I think In the Nursery did a soundtrack for it a while back. Maybe that's the one you're thinking of.

Yeah I've seen that one...but the other version I watched with the old 20's music was trippy.

I've got a couple of copies, each with a different soundtrack. One of them is pretty good, suspenseful, nostalgic, dark. The other is absolute shit - they made no effort to match up music to the action on screen, so you end up with happy, light sounds during dramatic scenes.
