Talking A7X fans?

Not exactly a goth band, but my favorite by far!

I was wondering if there were any other fans on this board...

There are so many bands that do what they do so much better. :[

They're like Metal-Lite or Introductional Metal for the Live at Home Mom.

I don't even think of them as Metal. I think they're emo. Mostly because emos flock to them. Maybe some odd emo-metal hybrid. Sort of like metal lyrics set to emo music. Or the other way around.

You shouldn't have put a grin face with this thread. It should have been a face of shame.

I recommend you start listening to Vader, Opeth and Marduk immediately.

I kind of think of them as more "shock rock," though not quite to the extreme that Marilyn Manson is. If you listen to their older stuff, you would find that they used to have quite a bit of a harder sound. However between the albums "Waking the Fallen" and "City of Evil" the lead singer blew his vocal cords and pretty much can't do the screaming he did on previous albums. He almost blew them again this year and had to cancel a bunch of tour dates in September.

I'm going to see them on Friday btw!!!

I don't consider them to be metal and I don't consider them to be good. Plus they aren't really original.

The lead guitarist won the guitarist of the year award last year. He is one of the few that can make the instrument "fly."
I guess introductional metal or metal for people like me is a perspective. Being raised on the father of heavy metal, I don't consider it introductional, neither are the fans all stay at home moms. We tend to be neurotically devoted and come from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions.
If you don't like them, that's cool. Don't post a whole shitload of stuff because you don't like them.

Avenged Sevenfold makes up approximately 0.075% of music on my computer. Therefore i didn't even realize they were even on my computer. Must have come from one of the times i "borrowed" music from someone's computer i was repairing.

After listening to those few songs i wasn't exactly impressed. Thanks to last.fm i'm fairly certain my opinion won't be swayed.

But to each their own.

The lead guitarist's dad plays guitar better.

That award means nothing. It doesn't matter how fast you can play pentatonic scales; the most influential guitarists have always been the ones with a distinct playing style. No one's ever gotten famous for wanking off at a local guitar shop.

Dire Straits or whatever A7X's guitarist's name is is famous. Really, he sounds more like a combination of Dharma, Gilmour and Slash than a straight-up shredder to me.

Excellent point. The reason A7X is no good is that they have no personality of their own. They sound more like a band that formed because they wanted to get on MTV and party with other rock stars than a band that had anything to add to the art form. There is absolutely nothing groundbreaking or original about them and that's the main reason they'll fail the acid test with any true musical connoisseur.
