have been discussing the trailer. big sticking point for people seems to be the superman style shirt ripping.

Alas, no. The venerable Mr. Englund has been replaced by Jackie Earle Haley, lately of Watchmen fame. That being said, from what little one can glean of the mangled visage of the redesigned Freddy in the teaser trailer, I approve of the more naturalistic, yet still severe, scarring employed.
