Nah! I guess a lot of men in general talk that way.

I hired a new employee last Friday, fired an employee on Tuesday and have pretty much been working 12-hour-plus open to close schedules every day except for Sunday. And I'm starting to feel a little cranky and fatigued. So when a friend sent this video my way, the multiple chuckles, guffaws and (in one case) gasping-for-air laughter it induced made my day:

The Philip DeFranco Tuesday Report

Yep, it's a real pick-me-up, so I've subscribed to his videos. Check it out!

just finished my three book series... re-written them three times, but finally got a good conclusion that the characters all liked.. (stupid characters) but have been typing frantically for the last four hours, and I really need to eat something.

Having Voltaire sign my "Oh My Goth" comics and have him recognize me, followed by getting on stage with him to sing "When You're Evil"... It was one heck of a night in York...

Finding in a second hand shop the Sisters Of Mercy `This Corrosion` LTD edition box set for the 7" inch single (this came out in 1987), which had promo photos of the band (Eldritch and Patricia Morrison) still in the box, all for 2 quid !!!.

A good find !!!.

Getting a call from a certain guy I fancy. And also getting a call from a store to whom I sent in an application yesterday, and I'd reaaaaaally love to work there but I'm afraid to jinx it and get my hopes up. And he said the interview is on Monday, but that seems weird that its that long, and now I'm afraid I misheard >.<

The wings and feet from the fancy pigeon I found dead in the high street have dried beautifully in their salt. Now I can ponder what sort of wearable items I can turn them into!

When I was growing up, my Mom was really, REALLY into Star Trek. She was a Trekker or Trekkie or whatever you want to call it well before the term caught hold. The original Star Trek series largely gained popularity with college students in the early 70's when it went into syndication, but she was all over the show when it first premiered in 1966 ... she even kept the first TV Guide with Trek on the cover.

My Dad is a mostly sober and serious man who grew up on a farm and collects stamps. He never saw the sense of the show or of her ever increasing collection of Star Trek memorabilia. He doesn't have much interest in fiction, except that he used to like watching westerns like Gunsmoke. Over the years he has mellowed a bit, such as recognizing that her Star Trek collection may be worth much more than his stamp collection.

And one time when they traveled to Universal Studios at Orlando, Mom convinced him to appear with her in a "Film Your Own Star Trek Adventure" production there ... Mom got dressed as the Captain and Dad dressed appropriately as the cool and logical Spock. I still have a copy of the video they paid for that day ... Spock (er, Dad) got the drop on the Klingons by dropping a boulder on one of them. It seems un-Spock-like, I know, but Universal wrote the script and they both had fun. But Dad still thinks the show is silly.

Anyway, flash forward to today. My Mom went into the hospital on Wednesday for major surgery. It went very well and she recovered quickly. So my Dad sent me an email explaining that my Mom has been moved to a rehabilitation center where they will monitor her condition and engage her in rehabilitation exercises. He gave me the number to her room and the number to the nurses station. He said I can call the nurses station for updates on her medical condition, but I have to tell them the password before they are allowed to share any information about her.

The password my Dad chose? "StarTrek"

I can't tell you how much that little gesture means to me or what emotions ran through me when I read it. But I can say it brought tears to my eyes.

"The Capital looks beautiful. I'm honored to be back at work."

-- tweeted by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords about her first appearance back in Washington (returning after being assaulted by a gunman early this Spring), after casting her vote on the Debt Ceiling bill.

Oh, I know what store it is! It's the gift shop in the USS Enterprise isn't it? You hangin' with your Vulcan hommies,.

Pretty impressed by anyone who can use Skype without swearing several times while trying to find someone on it. I disabled it ages ago - my mouth was all potty.

What made my day? The absolutely brilliant weather today. I wanted to bottle it.

This is the greatest thing since Korn--'Blind' was Chopped And Screwed.

And I found it after listening to Blashyrkh in the same vein. \m/,

A friend explaining about how he was made to watch the cctv footage of a dunk and stoned guy get caught his leg between the platform and his train, and how he laughed at him spinning in time lapse, seemingly doing "jazz hands". The Health & Safety guy looked shocked at his reaction, but I have to admit, I'd find it hard not to laugh.
