The Real Punk Thread

This is a thread to discuss real punk. Fake punk includes, but is not limited to: Blink 182, Green Day and all that other shit. So name some of your favorite bands and what era of punk is your favorite. I've always been into 80's HC and D-Beat and I'd say 1980-1986 is my favorite age.

Very nice list! A lot of good bands on there, except Rancid they suck. For me;

CHAOTIC DISCHORD
ANTI-CIMEX
DISCHARGE
DISCLOSE
DISARM
DISCONTROL
OUTO
CONFUSE
DEAD KENNEDYS
CRASS
CONFLICT
DOA
SOA
TEEN IDLES
GG ALLIN
CHARGED GBH
THE EXPLOITED

And about 70 other bands, really. There's too many to list!!

Wow! I kind of let myself down, forgetting to list those. OH! AND...

The Devotchkas
The Plasmatics
Vice Squad
....I give up. Too much to list.

Rancid? Well, they were my first "underground" band. he he he. Hey! We all have to start somewhere. Most of us weren't born with an Ill Repute record in our hands.

I see. I prefer the pissed off d-beat of Discharge and Anti-Cimex. I'm not too much into Ill Repute, but I like them a bit.

Rudimentary Peni!

I'm begining to become convinced that they're the greatest band ever. My favorite punk bands would probably be:

Rudimentary Peni (of course)
Dead Kennedys
Crass
Flux of Pink Indians
The Adicts
Bad Brains
The Misfits
The Deep Eynde (I dunno if you'd count them)
And locally, Bobby Cool and the Sluts.

I would have said The Adicts, but for some reason, they just don't really seem punk to me. I mean, I adore them, but, I don't know.

I think it was mostly the singer's voice that I didn't like at all. However, I always also thought that their music was much more sub par than the hype about them. It was like people liked them more because of the novelty of an all-girl street punk band...who were all really hot. I've seen them live countless times, and they've always sounded horrible live. Not to mention, I thought a couple of them (not naming any specific names) were uber snooty. My friend Johnny played drums for them when they were first starting out.

I do like girl fronted punk bands though. Have you ever heard Mankind?, the Relix (aka NY Relx), Naked Aggression, the Eyeliners, Walls of Jericho or Midnight Creeps?

Okay, I'll give you that they are kind of a "girl-gimmick" band

Yeah, as for the other bands, I've heard of them, and a small sample of their works. Oh! The Eyeliners. I bought their album because it was on Blackheart records, & I support Joan Jett like a fiend. Gotta say though, I was really let down.

What do you think of the Lunachicks?

Shouldn't Iggy Pop deserve to be mentioned?
Also, there's Politicide and Sin Dios.
