Scenes from an Unfinished Play
I don't know how to explain this, I found it in folder of my old writings though... and it amused me slightly so I thought I would share.
Act 1, Scene 1
[The curtain opens to a dark study; a mahogany work desk and brown leather chair are illuminated center stage. Booming thunder and rain can be heard, the papers on the desk are wet and a fierce wind can be heard howling. A Professor of Philosophy(Kammas Irisen) is fussing over the notes on his desk looking for a certain booklet]
Kammas: I'm late, late, by the hour! And fate saw fit to make it pour like Diahn Jillith bound to sky in her misery. Oh witless weather, whether or not it has ever crossed your mind I do not know, but raining on others distress is most unoriginal, though I suppose the monotony of the everyday is now a cliché anyway [he pauses for a moment in thought and exclaims in excitement] and defines itself as such through its expected regularity! [he collects his thoughts after his “breakthrough” and becomes reflective] Oh I am but a simple idiot, opening my study to the elements on the pretence that the weather, and reality, in fact are defined by a human’s mood. I go to bed in pleasurable relaxation assuming this would equate to a warm morning glow, but what a fool I am! Obviously not a ray of shine would touch me when the students of this university are so ridden with angst, what a grievous oversight on my part… [he mutters and finds his paper soggy and becomes angry] Damn those crisis riddled youth, damn their collective will; blanketing my body and mind! Damn them all and their soddening of my papers!!
Scene 2:
Clarabelle: I saw him, you know… spoke to him, you know?
Esther: I do know do I?
Clarabelle: Yes, you do
Esther: Then who?
Clarabelle: You know…
Esther: The big prawn in the oven?
Clarabelle: No! Him! The big cheese!
Esther: The apple of his eye, is… you?
Clarabelle: Yes! The man who sleeps on Day Seven!
Esther: Oh, does he sleep or is he dead?
Clarabelle: I don’t know
Esther: You don’t know, do you?
Clarabelle: That’s what I just said
Esther: I am aware
Clarabelle: I think we’ve lost the plot here
Esther: You assumed there was a plot?
Clarabelle: I assumed we had a plot?
Esther: No such luck
