Yeah but dirtnap hasn't been around for years. March 2007 was his last post.

Yea, Dirtnap is atill around. But there in truth has been nothing that has, in my opinion, required admin or mod, just SELF-MODERATION.

To those who say this site has gone downhill- it is a lateral move. The only reason it was better with the old mods is because those old mods are awesome people and they are no longer here. That's it. It has all been relatively the same, otherwise.

Ignore Sodapses/Juan/Rabbit, and get on with your life.

And Tek, the only reason I epilate is for the pain. You have not lived until you see your bikini line a'glow in blood and follicles.

That totally rendered me speechless.

DirtNap was never really that visible and if she/he (was it ever clear whether DN was male or female?) is not around, then someone else is moderating/banning...unless "Sporked Eyeball" is fashionable title nowdays. And i have yet to see any spam-bot threads while lurking.

From what i've seen so far...things can continue as they have been.

Yeah, if no one posts in the bot threads, they will simply drop. Just tag it as "Report Bad Post" (The exclamation mark), and admin will do as they see fit.

The mods/admins MO is not to have to be visible. Then again, it is their board, their dime. It's their MO to do as they choose. Funny how such demands are made upon them without any talk of reimbursement.

I must admit that if someone says something funny enough in response to a bot post, it makes us a little hesitant to delete the thread, even though we'd prefer that people just left them alone to sink or be deleted.

There seems to be a very high number of spam bots lately.

They look to be posting gibberish, but I'm betting they are posting picture link spam - which is disabled on these forums so its not showing up.

Why not implement a CAPTCHA graphic on the sign up form?

I agree with CptSternn on using CAPTCHA graphics to stop bots.

For a while private messaging was indeed turned off for everyone. It didn't matter if you had 600 or 6,000 posts you simply could not send a private message.
i thought, however, when the Admins turned the feature back on it was available to all.

This may seem redundant, doing tech support i have to make sure i cover all bases, but make sure you check your "Edit Options" found in your User CP. There is a section for enabling and disabling Private Messaging.

Try that and if it doesn't work then evidently you have to post somewhere between 700-800 posts before you can PM someone.

I didn't think that the required post count was that high, I thought it was 500, but I could be wrong. Personally I think that newbies should at least be able to receive messages but I'm kind of sick of hearing people bitch about how there isn't PMing when there is and they simply haven't unlocked it.

um...no, pictures were taken away for a variety of reasons, none of which would be solved with captcha

Is there a reason why email addresses like h0tmail.com are banned, while spambots can join and post spam@spamsite.ru and they are not banned?

Not only are spambots roaming freely here (we get a few a DAY now posting across many forums) they are now including working links and emails in their posts - and the normal users can't even do that.

I would like PMs for new members as well. It would cut down on the number of "where mah PMs at?!?!" threads & posts. Besides, I don't really see the point in withholding them until an arbitrary number has been reached - some members can be here for ages before reaching 300 posts.

I would at least like to continue to have some post limit before PMs are enabled, even if it is lowered to 100, simply because I have had my inbox spammed by bots as well as trolls in the past and would rather not have it happen again. If a member really wants to be able to PM they can just up their count by posting a bunch of crap in game threads and randomness.

I don't know if this is where we're supposed to report bugs or what, but why is Fuckmaromi12d3 a senior member? She just joined.

Same reason you are (not that I dislike you or anything), being a senior member doesn't mean anything any more

That's what I get for copypasting your username. But I actually like Fuckmaromi better.

What I meant was, she just joined this month.

Nah, it needs more people to report the posts that are racist or actually damaging to the point of borderlining the Megan Meier case.

For the most part, the trolling can be a fun diversion. Snipe and snipe back.

This one has taken a nasty turn though. I'm mean as fuck, but this time crossed some lines in terns of brutality, racism, and pics of babies blown up.

And when in doubt, boycott this place.

I don't want to, I enjoy it here. But some members are becoming a legal liability.
