Melodic Death Metal

I would like some recommendations please
I'm really getting into Melodeath now, bands like Scar Symmetry, Swallow the Sun and Mercenary are great. If anyone knows of any bands that A huge ass fan of Scar Symmetry would like, do tell
Looking for something along the lines of Mercenary, Scar Symmetry, In Flames, Dark Tranquility, Swallow the Sun and Dark Age.
Thankyou
*does that little bowing thing*

I like Into Eternity, though I don't know what they constitute. Check out Severe Emotional Distress by Into Eternity.

You already know Arch Enemy (I'll lynch you if you don't)

Mercenary (they're melodic anyway)

Threat Signal

Fade Away

I'm not too sure about any of these genre wise, but they're neat.

If you like Dark Tranquillity and In Flames than you should really check out At The Gates. Their album "Slaughter of the Soul" is an absolute classic and a perfect example of what MDM/the Gothenburg sound is all about.

Cool

Let me see !!!.

Death (The band that started it all, and is essential listening if you love this type of Death Metal so I reccomend these albums `Human, Individual Thought Patterns, and `Symbolic`)

Atheist (This band is amazing especailly the albums `Piece of Time` and `Unquestionable Pressence`)

Cynic (another brilliant band see if you can find the `Focus` album)

Nocturnus (one of the first Death Metal bands to use keyboards and had a Science fiction theme to their music, albums `The Key` and `Threshholds`, these albums are worth looking for)

Carcass (Check out `Heartwork`, `Swansong`)

To name a few ... !!!.

As i don't like rap music, or should i say Crap music, as it is the art of "who can vomit words faster".. That would still be interesting to hear

Tell us how you like the bands...

Not quite sure if they´re metodic death metal, they might be melodic doom metal, but Agalloch is a good band that even I like to listen to. Since I on principle do not like metal, I guess that says something about the musical quality of the works this group produces.

*Pops open iTunes* I've highlighted the names so they're easy to find.

Well, you should know Children of Bodom, DevilDriver, and Soilwork. I'd check them out first.

Then you have Heaven Shall Burn and Kataklysm, two personal favorites of mine. They're on the heavier side though.

For some older stuff, At The Gates and Carcass are really good.

I found Rotting Christ surprisingly nice to listen too, even though it's not technically melodic death metal.

Amon Amarth is extremely good metal, not sure what genre they fall under other then "Viking", if that. They're releasing a new album out too.

The Arcane Order are sort of thrashy, but not really too thrashy. Not entirely sure what they fall in to either. Arsis is thrashy too. The Black Dahlia Murder just has a lot of screaming.

Darkest Hour is actually pretty interesting, but they're more metalcore then anything else, IMHO.

Agalloch is really soft, good folk metal.

Diablo, Blinded Colony, Disarmonia Mundi, Omnium Gatherum, Suidkara, and The Haunted might be right up your ally too.

And finally, Dethklok is just really funny.

Their music always sounds like fire.

I've only actually seen a couple bands in this thread that are actually melodeath...

Heaven Shall Burn is metalcore, and shit.
Children of Bodom, Soilwork and Devildriver are I dunno what, but they're shit too.
Rotting Christ, while awesome, are melodic BLACK metal.

GOOD melodeath, some already mentioned:

Dark Tranquility
Archons
At The Gates
Amon Amarth
old In Flames, their new stuff is too metalcore for my tastes.
Night In Gales
Kill the Romance
Fear My Thoughts
Lothlorien
Nightshade
Torchbearer
Ablaze My Sorrow
Blinded Colony

Enjoy.
*insert rant about melodeath scene being taken over by kids who can't handle real death metal, so listen to melodeath instead, not realizing that that's not the point at all...*

Children of Bodom have been described as power metal with some melodic death thrown in.
Don't know about Soilwork but I don't like them.
Devildriver is groove metal (i.e. Pantera) with some death and thrash thrown in.

CoB, Devildriver, and Rotting Christ are in my top favorite metal bands along with Nile (can't handle real death?) Amon Amarth, Anorexia Nervosa, Dark Tranquility and At the Gates.

Could somebody tell me what Opeth is?
