Should America annex Canada?
I saw this topic on the internet and I was curious to hear what people here thought about the US annexing Canada?
What's it to be?

During the Bush administration, I was hoping the Northern States would secede and become part of Canada.... Not that it really matters in my situation: I'm a legal citizen of both.

I meant to say "Should the United States Annex Canada?"
Not "Should America annex Canada? "
Sorry.

Sure. They seemed to be OK annexing Iraq, and have no problem with the occupation of Palestine by Israel. To name a few.

Russia annexed the North Pole, so I say the U.S. should annex Antarctica, then we could bring back the cold war yuk yuk yuk.

Okay, look, if you want to start a serious discussion on something, you had better put your own skin in the game. Offer up YOUR OWN opinion about whether or not the US should annex Canada, give people something to argue with. Don't just pose a question and say "OK, go!"
Now, for a less dismissive response to the topic at hand: What possible benefit would there be to the US annexation of Canada, and to whom? What would the US gain, aside from more timber, uranium mines, maple syrup, a lot more people to take care of and land to govern? Would that benefit outweigh all of the costs?
Secondly, how do you plan on doing it? Put it to a national referendum? I don't think very many people in either country really care to form a union with the other. Do you buy up all of Canada with money? It would be impossible calculate the cost of an entire country with any accuracy, and it would be far to expensive do to anyway. Do you move in with the military? The Iraq invasion showed us vividly that the costs in destruction and human suffering far outweigh anything that could possibly be achieved by that.
So again, no. I don't see anything worthwhile that could come out of the US annexation of Canada.
Now, don't start with your self-denigrating "I'm so worthless, someone kill me!" bullshit. It's really BORING.

Once you've conquered Canada, you should make it an anarchy so JCC can live there.

Of course America should annex Canada. Outside of the fact that America's destiny is to annex all the world, Canadians talk funny and live in a cold place, which basically makes them russkies as far as I'm concerned.
CANADA, HEAR THIS:
UNCLE SAM PUT YOUR NAME
AT THE TOP OF HIS LIST
AND THE STATUE OF LIBERTY STARTED SHAKIN' 'ER FIST
AND THE EAGLE WILL FLY
AND IT'S GONNA BE HELL
WHEN YOU HEAR MOTHER FREEDOM START RINGING HER BELL
IT'LL FEEL LIKE THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD IS RAINING DOWN ON YOU
BROUGHT TO YOU COURTESY
OF THE RED
THE WHITE
AND THE BLUE

I'll say no.
Biculturalism don't work with American's idea of freewill and in Canada, it's biculture. (French and Englsih)
ps. I should have wait a bit longer 'til someone bring up the American Revolution.
oh well...

No. I don't think that's a very good idea. Because, as viscus said, what would the U.S. gain?

The elite that own and run everything are at war with everyone. From the people in their own county, to just about everyone else.

Realistically? Annex Cuba. It would be a win-win.
