Yikey! That looks like he's had a small car accident happen in his mouth.
Anyways... Hmm... I guess I was lucky when I was in school - our uniform was black. I think that's where I probably started feeling comfortable wearing it.

Those grills look fucking awesome!
Why does it matter if you're a goth or not? Your parents don't need to know, I mean, I never told them anything, but they are still very aware that I am a poseur.
Demonista: Good evening parents!
Mother: By the gods, my kid's a poseur. And she's still a girl scout.

I know, maybe the gay example wasn't that good, but it's still silly to tell your parents you choose a subculture...

My father once told me that, when people reach thirty, they're not so open to different things anymore. When he was young, he wanted to wear his hair long, and his father was disgusted by the idea. He couldn't understand his father's feelings then, but he can understand them now; he wouldn't feel that way about his son having long hair, but would feel disgusted if his son chose to wear a mohawk. He wouldn't forbid his son to wear a mohawk or put any kind of pressure on him, but would find that kind of haircut disgusting.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, try to understand how your folks are feeling. If it's too unusual to them, they might feel creeped out and might need some time to accept your new looks.

My Mom didn't freak when I started dressing goth (I kind of gradually morphed from a metalhead into a goth, as far as dress style goes. I've always been a goth inside). She was just probably like,"That's Nikki for you- a little odd, but a good kid on the whole."

I wouldn't tell them anything. You know, my parents are a little more understanding, however, my Mom just sees me dressed funny and would tell me stories about when she hung out with bikers. It is just awful. She gives me advice.
My Grandmother was also slightly caring but interpreted wearing gothic makeup as doing some weird suicide ritual. She often hid art supplies from me, like my exacto blades and razors for amberlith.
I bet the parents in question would just flip out and send Cre_Babe to an institution. (There would be no conversation about what gothic really is.)
"They put me in an institution. They said, 'It was the only solution, to give me the needed professional help to protect me from the enemy myself.'" Suicidal Tendencies
I know that is a punk song. After Sarah was institutionalized, that was a song she often hummed after being released.

Oh that is just the most ignorant statement I have ever heard a N00b make on here, and trust me when I tell you that is REALLY saying a lot.
Congratulations!!
Just how the fuck does a baby express his or her Darkity McDarkness??
PVC Diapers?
Obsidian Teething Rings?
Scarification with your Mommy and Me class?
Formula D'Absinthe?
Give me a fucking break, PLEASE!
When you were a baby, you ate, you slept and you shit.
And from the above remark by you, I would imagine you didn't even do those three things very well.
Kudos to you for sucking at Basic Bodily Functions.
I am sure your parents are proud.

Just like you (sorry Jillian, just couldn't resist )
I agree EPS, we may think we're intelligent now, but from 14-40 years ago we were all lying in our cribs, drooling everywhere and dirtying our diapers (though we don't like to think about it)

This is something one actually says to their parents?
My Mum would be fine if I told her, she loves The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees and basically everything else I listen to... with a few exceptions in the Metal area (However Alien Sex Fiend pisses her off no end though... bizarre), but I generally don't listen to that much or loudly when thine mother is nearby - simply because I don't want to annoy her.

I also had the same issue three years ago, when I grew into the culture. My father, who is a slight redneck, completely hates it. My mother thinks its only about darkness, and worries what other people will think of me.
I try to tell her that she can't believe such stereotypical rumors about goth, but she insists they're all the same.
You'll just have to learn to ignore them, but respect their opinions, they are your providers of course.

Don't try to make sense of that one.
Just back away slowly, and try not to look directly into its eyes..
