Walking in really high shoes

Hello i was wondering if anyone has any tips and pointers on the best way of approaching learning how to walk in high heal shoes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and valued.

Break them in by walking around the house in them first.

It's less of a heel-toe type movement and more of a kind of stomp, try and keep your back straight or you'll end up doing some strange lunging movements, lol! trust me...i've seen it.

When you're out and about...try not to think about it too much, just relax and it'll all be cool.

Find a shoe that is really comfortable. I'm sorry but if it's really that bad for you, maybe high heels aren't for you. However I found that high platforms are really comfortable.

Just practice. I used to be really klutzy and not able to walk in heels, but now I can strut down the street with the best of them.

Practice makes perfect.

To be able to walk properly in really high shoes it's recommended that you toughen your ankles up. There's a chance of possibly snapping your ankle if your ankles aren't strong enough to support you when you're wearing high heels

I'm getting better i use to wear high heals but i have been living in army boots the past 2+ years. x.x i don't think my choice of shoes that i brought yesterday where the best to start in i love them i feel so lady like when i am sitting but walking is getting easier. I will be buying a more appropriate pair with an ankle strap soon.

They're quite nice actually, very pin up. Only thing that bugs me about nice shoes at the moment is those wooden sole things, they just wouldn't go with most of the stuff I wear.

I went to my prom in platforms XD!

I love the death rock look its very cool, but i couldn't pull it off i wear a lot of elegant lace things. Don't worry the whole wood thing shouldn't last much longer. :P I hate these shoes there disgusting i don't see the attraction to them o.o.

Lucretia, this has been bothering me: It's "heel." Not "heal."

When I first started wearing really high platform heels, I practiced by wearing them while cleaning my house. I would wear them to do laundry, cook, dust, you name it. I got used to them pretty fast.

I suggest you start by wearing leather shoes with leather lining. They are much more comfortable and easier to walk in.

Practice, practice, practice. It's not so much a stomp thing as it's a toe to heel walk.

chelseagirl, you must have great legs. I had a friend that did drag shows and he always told me "Daaaaling, wear your heels while cleaning your home, you will have the best toned legs evaaaa."

I only have one pair of heels, but I find that having a platform sole makes things far more comfortable than thin soled shoes.

If you have a concrete/paved back yard, walk around there also. A LOT. It will help for when you are out on the town walking on the pavement a little better than shuffling around on carpet in the house. It always kills me to climb down from the heights of my shoes after an evening out !

Oh gods, I hate those Crocs shoes too ! They are indeed very ugly. Come on, plastic clogs with holes in? NO. I have yet to see them look good with any kind of outfit. Has anyone seen those little plastic charm-like things that you can pop into the holes and switch around? Terrible. I mean, they're ok for little kids, but Adults? Forget it.

Ok, I have to defend my Crocs, ugly as they be, they are the most comfortable thing for work since I am on my feet for at least 9 hours a day. They do have some new lines that look more normal.

With my black crop pants and my black Crocs, I look like a little goth dutch boy. HA!

My friend had me walk in her six inch spike heals in a straight line until I mastered them. Now I can handle any heel that comes my way! I suggest finding the most difficult pair and practice on tile for a bit. Also remember it heel to toe.

Try wedges - I have issues with stiletto-style or even thicker heels but wedges work for me, even high ones. If that's not for you, ankle straps are a gift from whatever higher power you believe in. Dance around in them, if you can do that you can do anything in them, and it's great practice. Also wear stockings or thick tights underneath to avoid blisters and fill in any gaps.

Good luck!

I wear pretty big platforms sometimes. anything from 3 inches to 5. I just take small steps, never walk on cobble/grass/gravel/any foreign grounds, try not to walk up slopes and sort or stomp (gracefully of course).

it took me about a week to get used to them but I got there

oh noes im becoming shoe addicted this could get expensive. The stomping thing works and the heel toe one i just had a nasty spill almost landing on top of a fish tank and knocking over a huge cabinet. What i want to know is if anyone can walk in these.

It's possible for SOME people to walk in those, but those people are rare, and probably would have to be trained to do it.

The point of those shoes is predicament S&M.
