Thing the First ~ this post should not be in this section. The Spooky News Section is for.. well.. Spooky News. If you were to say that you were cutting yourself yesterday and while doing that you saw on the television set footage of the ghost of Anna Nicole Smith jogging along a Florida Beach, then that would be Spooky News. Anna Nicole Smith would never jog anywhere.

Thing the Second ~ cutting yourself is not cool. Your mother is right. Stop doing it, it makes all of the people who know you point and laugh at you behind your back. If you keep doing it they won't even wait until you have turned your back, they will just laugh in your face. And you will deserve it because you are doing stupid things to your body.

Thing the Third ~ even more stupid than cutting yourself is cutting yourself for attention. Do not try to tell me that you weren't doing it for attention, because if you weren't then your keyboard wouldn't be smeared with blood and my mind wouldn't be polluted with your presence right now. Do us a favour - put a band-aid on that thing, get away from your computer and go outside and play in your treehouse. Before I have to come over there and kick your arse.

Ah, and what about introducing yourself? I don't give a damn whether you cut yourself or not, I don't know you. And even if I did, it'd be your choice, not mine, as you'd still just be some kid from the internet. You enjoy it because it takes away from the pain you feel in your life, replacing it by physical pain to drown out any pain you feel from whatever you feel is causing you to feel so scarred, emotionally.

There are resources online. One person on MySpace, Mia Tyler (Liv's sister and daugher of Stephen Tyler) understands this more than I do. From what I've heard, she is a good person and helps those get through "cutting", since she also used to do that.

I'm not judging you. There is help. You may not want to quit at this point, but perhaps if you reached out to other "cutters", then you might not feel as alone and become educated as how to bring this self-abusing cycle to an end. Good luck.

For the record, if you are going to post about cutting yourself, please note that this is not a self-help forum. Some may sympathize, others won't care, and others will tell you to cut deeper. If you want to not fuck off and just hang for a bit, get a better feel for this place, have at it.

If you need some kind of help, there are other forums that are more self-help oriented.

broken* i use to be a cutter don't do it you'll end up with ugly scars on your arms for life if you do it deep enough. And the scars make it really hard, to get a job .

Jacquelinetm, you brought up some really great points... and usually I am a patient, caring and thoughtful person. But if someone is posting online about their selfharming habits then it is fairly obvious that they are attention driven. So, out of the window goes my patience, my caring, and my thoughtfullness.

There is no reason that you can't work in Childcare with scars on your legs. And legally an airline can't discriminate against you for having scars either, however they will probably just tell you that someone more qualified was hired for the position.

A Childcare center won't even care about your scars. As long as you didn't get them from murdering a four year old or something like that...

I didn't take it as being directed towards me. I do agree with you, but instead of giving this person the "oh woe is me" attention, I tried to educate, in order for Broken to seek the help she needs.

I still don't know if it will be much of a problem. I recall encountering a stewardess who was rather obviously a transsexual, and that seems much more likely to disturb the general public than scars.

Speaking of Anna Nicole wandering the beaches as a ghost ... I have the pleasure of living in Fort Lauderdale where this media circus maximus just happened. The past week has been filled with satellite trucks, helicopters hovering, microphones set up at poorly-balanced podiums ... it's been a general mess.

Now there's word there really IS a ghost of Anna Nicole allegedly roaming the halls of that Seminole Casino in Hollywood (a 20-minute freeway drive from Fort Lauderdale, by the way). I don't believe it, personally, but geeez ... and the source ...

Well, that's the problem with scuttlebutt of this type, there is no credible source. I am not the source ... it's a rumour - that's why it's not credible.
