Well, it's in her lung so most obvious answer is it's lung cancer but the doctors aren't sure if it is lung cancer or if the tumor in her lung is a secondary one that's spread from somewhere else in the body so she's having a buttload of tests and scans done to find out exactly what's going on.

And thanks MoC.

Thanks Sol. We're trying to be as positive as we can right now. Until we know more, there's not much we can do.

Thanks Honeythorn. We're trying to be hopeful, we'll know more in a couple of weeks when all the tests are back. At least the hospital is getting things done quickly, they aren't hanging around at all.

MissCheyenne, I'm so very sorry to hear that. I hope you get some good news out of the tests, and that the fight against this cancer proves winnable, swift and as pain-free as possible.

I got an email response to my online resume from a major nationwide retail chain in regards to filling a store management position. I replied to the email and said I was very interested in meeting to discuss the position. I said the writer just needed to tell me a time and place and I would be there. I got no reply back. I assumed the writer must have changed his mind.

Two weeks later I got another email from the same person (basically it's a form letter the guy mails out for potential candidate resumes he finds online.) It was the same email, just resent to me two weeks later. So I replied back and said yes, I'd like to meet, just tell me a time and place. I got no reply back.

After two days, I wrote back and said again I was very interested in meeting him and he just needed to tell me a time AND PLACE, and I would be pleased to be there. He replied this time, asking if 2:00pm on Monday would work for me. Notice, he didn't mention a place.

I replied back within 30 minutes of receiving that email saying that Monday at 2:00pm would be fine, WHERE did he want to meet me. I got no response.

This morning I've sent him another email saying I hadn't heard back from him and I am very eager to meet with him if he will tell me where to meet him.

*exasperated sigh*

I haven't heard back from him. I'm torn between calling one of the stores and trying to find out where his office is and blowing it off because even though I would like to work for the company, I don't know I want to work directly for someone who handles their business this way.

And to be honest, as frustrating as the job search has been, this dangling carrot is pissing me off.

I emailed him back with less than two hours to go till the interview time, including copies of all previous correspondence (which may seem a little "in your face snarky", I know), advising that I got a call for another interview. And since I didn't know for sure that our meeting was going to happen, I accepted the new offer to interview. I apologized for the late notice, but didn't have a choice under the circumstances. I asked him to name a place and time for another meeting, and I would be glad to see him.

We'll see what happens. That's a lot more chasing than I'm used to doing.

Unbelievable! Just 51 minutes before the interview was to take place, he wrote me back apologizing for not getting back to me because he was called out of town unexpectedly. Now he asks if I can meet him at 11:00am on Wednesday ... while still not indicating a location!!!

I even specifically worded my last email asking for a "place and time", putting place first in the hopes that would get his notice. Apparently not.

So now I'm trying to figure out how to reply with a blunt and direct response that doesn't sound rude or snarky. I won't commit to the meeting without knowing where it is this time, so I'm thinking of writing back "Do you have a location in mind?"

I don't know. First I'm going online and researching if this guy even IS with Radio Shack. The whole thing is too damn unprofessional. Right now it feels like I'm being trolled.

Honeythorn, his emails do have a Radio Shack email address, but he doesn't have a signature or phone number in it. I have asked for a location in four different emails ... I can't imagine I'll have any better luck asking for a phone number!

Dim? Yeah, that's one possibility.

Definitely. My mum's had cancer twice, so I know how horrible the wait for news is for everyone. I hope she's doing okay - let us know how it goes when you do get some news.

She's doing okay right now, she's just hating all the tests and stuff, other than that, she's just like she's always been. Bit thin though, so we're feeding her up.

Dude, she weighs under six stone, she needs to eat as much as we can get in her so that she's got the strength to kick this cancers ass.

Shit, that's nothing! How tall is she? If she winds up having chemo she'll probably drop some weight during that, so yeah, looks like now is the time to hone your mad baking skills for her!

She's 4' 9'' so she's pretty fucking tiny. All the women in our family are small but Mum's the smallest.

She needs to eat her brown rice. Seriously. I mentioned chemo and it doesn't sound like there'd be a lot left of her if she dropped much more weight - maybe you should ask your doctor if they'd recommend a weight gain diet before she starts the treatment. (You'd hope they would reco automatically where they see the need, but although my mum was treated at a fairly good hospital, we quickly learned the don't-ask-don't-get rule - unfortunately the staff were too busy to let us know more than the minimum unless we pushed them on things.)

Yeah, I'm gonna get her to speak to the doctors once we know exactly what her treatment is going to be and stuff. She has put some weight on in the last month as I've been feeding her so it's a start but really, she needs to put some more on. She's much too thin as she is.

The hospital is ok, they are getting a move on and working as quickly as possible to find out exactly what we are dealing with so I have to give them credit for that. It doesn't help much though that for a lot of the tests, Mum has to travel to the next city over for as the hospital in this town doesn't have the facilities to perform them.

Well, I wish her all the best. She may have a long fight ahead of her but a decent hospital and a good support system are initially the most important things, and it sounds like she has those covered.
