Eventually I should have substituted plastic with synthetics. But we know what we´re talking about and how it looks like. *grin*

Addendum:

Caoutchouc can be extracted from plants but nowadays is mostly artificial manufactured. I am sure there´s more artificial/synthetic stuff involved in the production process for our most used condoms than natural. Maybe we should go back to fish dermis *huh?*

Or lambskin, which is still used (though not as effectively).

I still say the chemical makeup more closely resembles a rubber than a plastic, but I see your point.

At any rate, they all smell like latex... (well, unless you get a funky flavored/scented one)

To quote Homer Simpson (albeit badly):

"Purple is a fruit."

I totally stand by that.

it seems to me that someone couldn't be bothered inventing a new thing so they just stuck some extra bits on a condom and claimed that it was the best thing since sliced bread.

except obviously not to be used in the same context *grins*

Leticia (wow, what a name!) - if you look at computers and operating systems you´ll realize, that all stuff the corporate world is trying to push into the market is just something old re-invented or something minor added to the prior version. Fashion is a good example too.
So what?

Hey, I think that this thing is one useful invention - ever thought about the guy with only one hand, or none? Or the people without the necessary fine coordination?

I don't know whether the church will ban it though - I guess they have better things to do

I've read that the Catholic church might make it permissable fpr married couples to use condoms where it is just to stop infection.

Last week, a retired archbishop from Milan, Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, suggested that married couples where one partner has HIV might use condoms against infection. Although this contradicts the idea that contraception is against God’s will and natural law, this was, the archbishop suggested, a lesser evil than passing on the virus.

Well, technically you can use a form of non-barrier, non-hormone birth control...natural family planning. It's where you pay attention to when you ovulate and don't have sex when you're fertile.

Splitting hairs, I know but that is allowed.

I read yesterday that the Pope has officially allowed people with HIV to use condoms. I don't know whether this only applies to married couples, though. But apparently the archbishop of Milan's idea was well received.

That's cool. Some people actually have to use them for reasons other than contraception...it's not that common but some women are allergic to their partner's man sauce and in that case, you'd have to use them. Also, what about couples in which one partner has a dormant STD and the other doesn't? Condoms are good for doing more than just birth control.

Well, the Catholic church, like most organised religion, is more concered about life after death than life before death. I am very surprised they have shifted their stance on this matter, and I am sure they won't go any further than this. If an STI is curable and not terminal the church's view is abstain, or deal with it.

I think the exact words were "in case of severe disease", referring to AIDS. There's nothing up on the official Vatican site yet, or I didnt find it. If anything official is issued, it should be up there soon at The Holy See. My guess is, that the paper will be a) in Latin and b) very round-about - so it possibly could be interpreted as allowing condoms in case of other STDs aswell. But as you say, Morrighan, they might make one explicit exception and not go any further than that.

Well, it doesn't have to be either terminal or curable. There are many incurable but not terminal STDs...

We should actually see an increase in condom sales - after church is deregulating condom usage, right? *grin*

From a marketing perspective - now´s the time to promote the condom clip.

I should have said that the church won't give a damn about non-terminal sexually-transmitted infections, regardless of the seriousness of the damage it does.

I still insist that the best form of birth control is marriage.

I think this thing looks a bit weird, but being a woman that has heard endless complaints from guys saying they don't want to wear a condom because it 'takes too long' to put on, I think this is a good idea.

As an aside, it sort of looks like the mouth piece that Till Lindemann wore at the end of the 'Mein Teil' video. Freaky.

Hi Mistress Liriel. Nice to see you active in "my" thread.

Just to bust the myth "takes too long to put on" - that´s clearly a cheap excuse (No, I never used it so far!).

Liriel, what wired films are you watching? ;-)
I rather don´t want to ask you what "Teil" Till Lindemann is referring to (haha, I probably know)...

*adore your avatar - cute*

LOL! Thanks, Ice. And yes, it is a poor excuse. I never let them get away with that.

'Mein Teil' is about that penis-eating cannibal case from Germany a couple years back. So yes, the 'teil' is exactly what you think.

And thanks about the Avatar. I want a nicer one. This one is too blurry since I had to shrink it for use on this forum.

LOL! Then maybe I should change it to having kids instead of marriage. We hardly ever have time for it, nor the energy! And there is something about a toddler waking up and running into the bedroom screaming that just puts me right off the whole thing.

That's why Mommy and Daddy are going to have locks on the bedroom door.

I can see it now...

"Sweetie, don't play on that. That's Mommy's bedroom fire-pole..."

BH: Locks, on the inside or the outside *Har-Har*

Mistress L: Ohhhh. That case. Well, wired one, isn´t it. At least it shows your connection with the good old continent. And with that country in which this penis-eating thing happened.
And as far as I remember - there´s been another case (last year?) of cannibalism in Germany, where one man did look for someone he could eat. Guess what "Teil" he ate first ;-) BINGO!
