Granted, but it seems like an awful lot of energy over a non-moral [or even important] issue.

Also, Tam, yes, there ARE more important things.
People starving is more important than your wedding, but you bought a dress, didn't you?
Yep, because a wedding...while not as important as eating...is still pretty damned important. I mean, this affects the rest of my life. It's not like it's not important at all.

As for the starving folks, I help when and where I can. *shrug* I'm even thinking of looking into some more short-term missions, and will eventually drag the Fiance back to China for a re-visit somewhere down the line.

So, while I agree that some things -are- more important than others, I'd personally give a basic forum ignore feature about a 1.5 on the importance scale. [10 being most important, 0 being not important at all.]

Tam. Just stop. If you read out loud what you typed before posting you'd realize how stupid you are.
You try to defend yourself with any shit you can come up with and when you fail you say "lol I'm just bored stop being so serious"
You keep repeating ad nauseum the terrible, terrible, phrase of "if you don't care why are you talking?" when by nature your saying that makes you also talk about something you 'don't care'. Too hypocritical.
And your call on "more important things" are plain bullshit. There are more important things to talk abuot this. There are also more important things than being in this forum overall, but you stay here. There are also much more important things than having a computer, yet you have one. This argument is bullshit because most of what you do is not important. And yet you have the nerve of trying to win this argument by saying that a fucking dress is as important as world hunger?!

IT'S NOT

Jilly: I...wasn't aware that that's what I indicated. O.o Of course a wedding dress isn't more important than world hunger. In fact, if you want me to be accurate, here's the scale of how I rate these things [0 being not important at all, 10 being life-or-death important]:

World Hunger: < 10. [more than ten]

Wedding Dress: 2.5 [but hella fun to wear! ]

Basic Forum 'Ignore' Feature: >1. [less than one.]

Tam, if you don't believe your dress is more important than EVERYTHING else, you--but your own logic--cannot EVER talk about it.

You appear to have your inequality signs the wrong way round.

The little end points to the lesser thing, for example:

Liusaidh > Everyone else

Ophie: People can talk about whatever they want; I never said they couldn't.

Liusaidh: Yeah, I was afraid of that, which is why I wrote out what I meant. XD I haven't used those signs in forever, so I couldn't quite remember which was which.

Ok, here's how the ratings -should- look:

World Hunger > 10.

'Ignore' < 1.

There we go.

It's been a -really- long time since math class for me, and I haven't had much occasion to use them in the past 10 or so years.

Even when I was in math class, I'd always get them reversed in my mind. Dunno why. Did fine in all other areas of math....

Well, I hope that continues, because I like getting along with you.

But, to be serious about it, I really don't have an answer as to why I use 'em, because I wasn't thinking that deeply into the whys and wherefores of < and >.

Apparently I have a troll as the entirety of my ignore list... At the time, I was irritated and didn't want to have to sit and patiently skip through each of his/her posts when I was trying to follow a conversation.
Ignore was a function of laziness at a strange hour of the morning.

Forgot I had it there.

I would not use the Ignore feature, because I like to know everything that's going on.

All I have to say in response to Tam Li Hua is WTF.

Ah, nothing.

I just find it hard to sympathize with someone who cannot read something, laugh and move on. I dislike that more than I dislike people that will gang up on others.

No, I didn't.

I don't expect you to understand or like me.

What's there to misconstrue about that?
