No rash or hives so at least that is good. My temp was 100 right when I got home (I had no fever when I left a few hours earlier but the dancing, fog machines, and/or people made me feel like crap after about two hours) and seems to have stayed the same since. Thanks for the advice, if I'm not under 100 by 2 I'll go.

The ER can be really pricey as you get charged for seeing a doctor plus whatever tests they run, last time I went it was $280 because they had to do multiple tests. I don't know about the sliding scale as it is based on income but I know that if you don't have a job then it is $30 so it will be more than that but I don't know how much.

Glad there was no rash (I was thinking chickenpox or shingles, or something along those lines). If you go to the hospital, check and see if they have Hill-Burton. That is a law in most states that requires hospitals to either take you on a sliding scale, work with you on the bill (i.e. allow you to pay it off in installments -- they cannot refuse even if you can only pay very small amounts per month), or outright 'charity' the bill if you absolutely cannot afford to pay (that is treat you 'gratis' or free).

YIKES.

I really wish I could offer to let you steal my identity if you cross the border.

Well after sitting around for 15 without the sweatshirt and with the laptop actually on a desk and not my lap (the chills went away randomly) I went down to 99.6, I did take advil about an hour and a half ago but the fever didn't go down until now, do you think I'm ok to wait until the regular free clinic opens in the morning?

Thanks for the info about Hill-Burton but the only free clinic i found through their website, much like the other free clinic, isn't open 24/7.

If it helps I am prone to sinusitis and while this would be the worst case I have ever had that is what it is starting to feel like so Jake is being a sweet heart and getting me a new neti pot since my previous one seems to have gotten lost.

If your temperature continues to go down, yes. If not, no. However, check and see if your state is a "good faith" state. What the "good faith" laws dictate is that you tell them your circumstances if you have to go in to the ER, and then talk to their finance people. You can set up a payment plan, and even if you only can pay, say $10 per month, if you say, that in "good faith" you will make those payments and be consistent until you pay the bill off, they cannot refuse you service. They will try to talk you out of it, threaten you, etc. Just stick to your guns. If you are in a "good faith" state, they cannot refuse you service if you cannot pay the bill in full, nor can they refuse to take payments -- or that makes the bill "null and void" by law. (That's why they will try to talk you out of it). The trick is that you have to keep your end of the bargain, and make the payments in a timely fashion -- at the times you agree to pay -- otherwise they can take you to collections. Try that if it you don't get better, okay. Good luck.

Oy, sometimes I have roommates. We are all adults and yet this is the letter that I am currently about to post on my roommate's door:

Kevin:
You said that you cleaned the kitchen but we didn't even have to look to see clear evidence that this is not the case. We do not appreciate being lied to and as such we feel that this has gone beyond reminders. From now on, as punishment, you will no longer have access to anything from Costco trips, this includes, but is not limited to, food, tp, tissues, and detergent.

Sorry it has come to this,
Your roommates

I hate leaving notes but they guy went to bed hours ago and I was feeling too crappy to check the kitchen earlier and he will be gone for work in the morning. For those interested the Kitchen was his chore last week and should have been done by the end of Saturday. He also said straight to my face that he cleaned the kitchen, and even moved everything. I went to heat up some water to make tea (iced tea so as not to aggravate my temperature) and there were crumbs behind the electric kettle, same was true of the toaster oven, the knife rack, the rice cooker, the coffee pot, the blender, and the stand mixer, not to mention the fact that the sink had a bunch of gunk in it and the front of the dishwasher was filthy to the point where I felt compelled to take a wipe to it then and there. *sigh* I can't wait until Jake and I have our own place.

Woot my temperature is continuing to drop, now I'm only slightly elevated, 99.1 to be exact. I guess anger has some sort of healing properties, I should find a way to profit from this *ponders*

when your fever breaks your body is giving the all clear sign that there is no more infection and it can return to normal. this usually only happen after an extreame increace or expression of energy as heat in your body. I.E. YOu got pissed off and it sent your tempature just high enoughto kill what ever is going on inside you, you should thank kevin after you whip his ass in to the kitchen LOL

Then, I bought my '77 Chevy. It was a former race car of all things. Owner even tried to warn me that it was too 'powerful' for me. It had a 350 engine, roll bars and a roll cage, of all things -- and glass mufflers. It was LOUD. (I was a librarian, for crying out loud. When I was younger, despite being an Army 'chopper' Medic and driving a 'deucey' [2-1/2 ton truck], I was kind of a wuss when it came to cars). Then I drove my 'Chevy to the levee', and I was hooked for life. (No kidding. It was an ugly car. I used to pull up to stop signs on the back roads and sports cars would pull up next to me, laugh at my ugly old bomb, and step on the gas. Somewhere down the road, after 'eating my smoke', they would pull up next to me and ask just what the h@ll I had under the hood. I would just smile sweetly and say, "Wouldn't you like to know"). That car is now in it's umpteenth incarnation (I do NOT junk my babies, I sell them and give them a new life), as a 'funny' car at a local race track, where it is still LOUD and 'tearin' up the road.' No, the older cars are the 'good's, dude. They last forever, actually get pretty good gas mileage (my '77 Plymouth gets 25 mph in town and 30 on the highway) and they are amazingly easy to repair.

And, no Stormtrooper, they don't make cars like that anymore.
Exactly what I was trying to say.

My first car has been a father/son restore project car, since I got it four years ago. Next summer I'm pulling the engineand tranny and having them rebuilt.

I can't wait.

Jack: I agree, they do handle like boats, especially mine, seeing as it's 19 feet long from nose to tail, but it's still got a shitload of get up and go!!

I got diagnosed with sinusitis today and have to take antibiotics for two weeks.

I hate taking antibiotics, but the x-ray showed that my condition was really bad, so...

I am so bloody sick and tired of people in all walks of life and all planes of existence (real, cyber, broadcast or other) doing and saying things that scream, "LOOK AT ME!"

I think at the same time that we have created the most spoiled, affluent, comfort-laden generation, we have also created the most emotionally needy generation this planet has ever seen. It smacks of weakness, overblown self-indulgence and rampant narcissism. People have to twit, live-space and face-plant about what they are doing right now, expecting that the rest of the world should be interested in what they are doing. And that self-intercoursing myopia leads to a group of 20 bystanders in Richmond, CA standing by while they observe a 15 year old girl gang r@ped for more than 2 hours and doing nothing more than text messaging friends to say, "Guess what I'm watching ..."

I've never felt a need to have a bunch of people know my interests or activities, because I figure the only person who should really be emotionally engaged in what's going on in my life is me, and that others should be engaged in their own lives. There are spectacular exceptions to this rule; watching people who conquer mountains, explore new terrains or land on the moon strike me as extraordinary - but that is the key adjective.

Anyway, this latest travesty in Richmond has my blood boiling. What an outrage! What a tragedy! What have we become?

This is shocking. I thought that schoolboys sharing porn videos of school girls, that they shot with their own cell phones was bad enough. But this?

"In this context, when you're talking about a crime this horrific, and you're talking about a group of adolescents watching, there's much more serious pathology going on that can't be explained by, 'Someone else is going to call for help,' " Arenella said.

You would be amazed what people will just watch, without a thought to doing anything to help, if there are others around. I do agree that this seems to go a bit beyond diffused blame and therefore a lack of responsibility, but terrible things have happened in the past that people have ignored simply because they figured that someone else would take care of it. People can be remarkably egocentric creatures and I don't think that there has been a recent increase in the level of egocentrism, it has just become more easy for people to indulge thanks to the internet. This isn't to say that I don't find such actions appalling, I do, I just don't think they are anything recent.

On a self-centered note: I was right, this is a particularly nasty case of sinusitis, the doc isn't 100% sure why I spiked a fever last night as I woke up with a perfectly normal 98.6 and it hasn't gone up since. He did tell me to call if it goes back up. He gave me some antibiotics and a decongestant, other than that I'm just supposed to take it easy, which may mean that I'll miss one or more days of work.

Annnnd the bites on my hand have swollen into little clear blisters, and now whatever it is has bitten both feet.

For Christ's sake. I've changed my bedding, changed my clothes, had a good *hot* bath to the point that my lilywhite skin was turning lobster red...

That sodding cat. No more petting adorably cute and friendly little black cats if they have no collar and look a bit dusty or unclean. At least it's not my flogging arm that's got the bites on it.
