WHEATON, Illinois (AP) -- A woman got a 30-day jail sentence for leaving her three young children home alone for several hours, while she and her boyfriend attended a videotaping of "The Jerry Springer Show."

Shannon Cook, 25, pleaded guilty earlier this week to misdemeanor child endangerment. She also was placed on probation for a year.

"It was an appropriate sentence, given what she did," said DuPage County Assistant State's Attorney Joseph Ruggiero.

The two girls and one boy, all under the age of 4, have been placed in foster homes by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Police said Cook left the children alone at a suburban home October 19, while she and her boyfriend went to Chicago for the taping. About five hours later the two oldest knocked on the door of a neighbor, who called police.

Cook was arrested when she returned home after midnight. According to a police report, she said: "I didn't think I'd be gone that long."

endangerment counts, and Michelle De La Vega, 32, was ordered to

serve 180 days for a misdemeanor accessory charge, prosecutor

Dara Cashman said. They entered their pleas and received their

Joshua Calero, 10, and his mildly autistic brother, 5-year-old Jason,

were found unattended in their San Ramon home Dec. 31. They

spent one night alone before their maternal grandmother, Liberata

Holden of Manteca, called police and said she suspected that the

boys were not being watched.

Police telephoned the couple, who stuck with their original travel

plans despite urgings to cut the trip short, authorities said.

Calero and De La Vega were arrested after they stepped off the flight

back from Las Vegas on January 4.

I woke this morning to a voice filled with the fear of death, my mother went to the hospital with chest pains and aching down her right arm. Just three days previous a co-worker had near the same problem, yet another co-worker broke his jaw last thursday... I'm surrounded by medical issues.. need I anymore stress?? wtf!!

Okay update, Mom goes back in for an EKG and Stress Test on Monday... and my love fly's to Arizona Sunday. He's my pillar so to speak so if anything happen's to her or I find out things are not okay I fear I will be lost until he returns, which is stupid and horribly dependent but the fear of loss is the one thing I'm not stone cold to.

I had to take my best friend to the hospital because every time she peed there was blood in her urine (She's so goth, she pees blood!). We were waiting there for a doctor for almost nine hours. When he finally came, he talked to her for about two minutes and prescribed her medicine (She's okay, she only had a water infection). wtf?

Fire Chief Accused Of Sex Acts With Lamb

MESA, Ariz. -- A veteran of the Mesa Fire Department is on paid leave for alleged bestial acts with a neighbor's sheep.

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies took 52-year-old LeRoy Johnson into custody at his home Saturday.

The city's deputy fire chief, a 26-year veteran, was booked on three misdemeanor charges including disorderly conduct, trespassing and public sexual indecency.

A sheriff's office spokesman said Johnson was released from jail on his own recognizance Sunday.

The arrest came after a neighbor and another man said they found Johnson in a small barn. The sheriff's report said Johnson's pants were down as he held a lamb to the ground.

When deputies confronted Johnson, they said he admitted to trespassing but denied doing anything else.
