Fashion DIY tips and gratuitous plugs. And hair. Hair! Flow it, show it. Wait...no. That's some hippie musical. Nevermind. |

Those are some wicked jeans man.
I haven't had bleach turn out that bright yet on anything.
More red or beige.
What would be the best bleach stage to dye over?

Well, bleach works best on new clothes or clothes that haven't been washed. Those have been washed many times before the bleach, but I just kept layering. If you just soak on the bleach frequently it will gradually lighten.

Sweet.
I wanna bleach a big splatter into the center of a shirt.
Then dye it red and stencil something over it.
Not all to sure what to stencil yet...

All I've really done is my vest. I think I'm FINALLY done studding it. I've been saying this for three years, but I think I really am done this time.

Sweet. Pics if you're finished?
I'm going to take a break from my jacket I think, kinda bored of cutting out stencils for now, that Frank The Baptist one took ages.

Everyone is so talented I sew a lot, but I don't have time to take pictures of things and post them :P But, I was very inspired and made a choker, black ribbon with lace on both sides.
I have a few questions for the people that make t-shirts. What kind of paint do you use? Does it feel stiff when it's dry, or will the design get ruined if you wash the shirt? How do you get such intricate designs? Also, how would I keep the shirt flat enough to put a design on it?
I want to make one for my friend for Christmas, which isn't very far away... :/

Regular fabric paint is all you need. It doesn't dry too stiffly at all, though some need to be heat-fixed with an iron so they don't flake off in the wash. And for more intricate designs I'll just use a mix of stencils and careful free-handing. As for keeping the shirt flat... iron it? Sticking a piece of cardboard inside wouldn't hurt either.

What Cicero said. I use Dylon paints but any fabric paint should work.
These: click
These ones you do iron on, and then it's a little stiff maybe but washing makes it soft again. And nope washing doesn't hurt it, all of my shirts have been fine, though I did have a problem with some of the paint washing out of a pair of trousers. Probably didn't iron it properly.
I use stencils, use a craft knife/scalpel and a cutting board. Plus it helps if you paint on black, because then you can always correct any mistakes with black paint

Why not just cut the CS thing off the old shirt and put it on a new one that fits?

I just finished ripping up some black skinny jeans. I'm wearing them now with black and green striped leggings underneath and they look awesome.

That is quite possibly the best patch I've ever seen. I've said it once I'll say it again: You freakin rule. Is that an original design? I've never seen them use anything like that.

I also need to know where that design came from! I'm going to put that on a t-shirt I believe.
Presumably it's Vines in the Victrola. But is it original?
Love the patch either way.

i dont know that this counts, but most people do, so here we go:
i put a lot of different ribbons through the holes in my ears (the ear piercings) and then tied them like bows and tied things into them like bone skull beads and a big gaudy ankh and things like that. and i just leave them in all the time, they are like permanent ear-fixtures. (that sounded dumb) people always say "did you make your earrings?" and im like "um, i just bought ribbons and put them through here and tied knots" but they say that counts as "making" them. it WAS my idea, so that makes it DIY. you can kinda see them in my profile photo... i would post a link/photo but i cant just yet. (not enough posts)

Woah, thanks dude. That really means a lot!
I got a drawing of a Victrola from google and turned it into a stencil, then drew the vines on. So it's kind of original, but I didn't do most of the work ha.

the only things I have made are green sequin nipple tassels )
We made them during one of our burlesque classes
...I don't think they would actually stick on anyway... the back of them is a bit screwed up.

Nah. I used a glue gun. They actually look ok, and they twirl but I won't be able to get the back to stick properly unless I used the glue gun on myself... and thats not going to happen. I have already burnt my fingers. Its because I didn't cut enough of the excess fabric off... (I used 2 layers of sheer green so the sequins were still visible.)
