There are numerous examples in history where numerically superior forces were defeated by a smaller more disciplined force. Hell, you point out one of the examples in your quotations. There's also the problem of logistics, something few armchair generals like yourself ever contemplate. To get to the U.S. West Coast, they'd first have to take out the Philippines, South Korea, Japan and several U.S. owned islands in the Pacific. Add in the fact that China lacks the resources the U.S. has, and they'd quickly find themselves in the same situation the Japanese put themselves in during WWII.

Then there's the economic situation. Next to Japan, we're their best customer. From the computer you're reading this on to the chair you're sitting in to the shoes you're wearing, chances are they have "Made in China" written on the tags; plus we owe them a shit load of money for the war in Iraq and several projects built around the states. Why would they invade one of their best customers? That's like a coke dealer shooting the movie star because the film producer just bought an extra ounce of yeyo. It would be commercial suicide for them.

But go ahead, keep day dreaming about being some guerrilla war hero while you shoot tin cans all day. I find paranoid survival nuts like yourself more amusing than Mel Brooks making cheap shots at Nazis.
And China holds the bulk of our debt.

To put it this way....What happens to the golden goose after it stops laying the golden eggs?

Answer: It gets slaughtered and served as the main course.

Nevermind I forgot that I'm talking to a group of socialists that want to paint me as the bad guy no matter what.

Its like if I said the grass was green the majority on this board would argue that it isn't just to be assholes.

But grass is green.

It's not that we dislike you and want to spite you; it's that you're wrong.

Care to point out how I'm wrong in NOT underestimating a potential enemy?

I maintain that you say I'm wrong because you don't like me or my thoughts on said subject, because I'm not part of the socialist group think around here.

1. China's military would be stupid hard to mobilize against the USA.

2. The USA is China's biggest customer.

If at any moment, the USA stops doing business with China, it's not like China can even collect on that debt. How would they do it? Do you honestly think they're just going to march on our streets and we're just going to sweep the streets clean for their boots and bow aside? You're not making any sense, man.

Really?

I'm not saying that if such an invasion were tried that (if able) the U.S. military and civilian militia wouldn't do the best they could at putting a stop to it,nor am I underestimating the capabilities of the U.S. by any means.

But I am looking at the fact that while the U.S. is still a super power we do have weaknesses many of which were brought on by....gee I don't know... being at war with two countires for the last 10+ years.

Also wars have started between trading partners on the world stage before.

Japan for example before WW2 traded with the U.S. for a good portion of supplies it needed to survive, aware of this the Japanese began an expansion, and when the war began between the U.S. and Japan many of the battles were to capture U.S. held areas that held raw materials that Japan needed and couldn't get in the same supply from the territories it had already taken over.

Hell the U.S. colonies traded with Great Britian before the revolutionary war began, and then after a period began trading with them again.

But the fact that in both time frames before or after the wars that trade took place didn't erase the fact that war happened.

The same can be said now with the current situation.

It would be rather foolish to ignore that we could very well end up fighting against China.

I hope such doesn't happen, but it is still a possibility if they really want to collect the debt owed to them if say....the dollar crashes due to so much out of control printing of said federal reserve note.

That still doesn't make sense.

China is too god damned large of a force to mobilize like our force can and why in the world would American imperialism be interested in trying to invade China?

Shit... If China even tried to start shit with us, the fight would be on their soil and most of the fighting would probably be done by our Navy and our Air Force.

It would be a uniform conflict most likely. In fact, it wouldn't even be China's military we'd have to worry about. It'd have to be the asymmetrical warfare of the Chinese people.

Not to downplay what our military is actually capable of; but it does seem like asymmetrical warfare gums of the gears of our military.

*sigh*

This conversation is silly. Be afraid of China or whatever else you feel like you should be weary of...

Study history sometime it wouldn't hurt you any and might help you out some.

Also I'm not afraid, but I am aware of the potential of such happening.

Just bury your head even further in the sand if you wish....it is after all still a free country.

Considering the fact you didn't address a single thing I mentioned in my original reply, I find it humorous. Instead, you quickly changed the subject, hell bent on saying the Chinese are ready to attack us circa 1945 war doctrines because you're following an outdated version of how the U.S. currency is valued on the world stage.

In previous threads you've said the government's the enemy. Then it's Big Brother. Now it's the Chinese. While not a shrink you are starting to sound like this:

Quote:
People with paranoid personality disorder are highly suspicious of other people. As a result, people with this condition severely limit their social lives.

They often feel that they are in danger, and look for evidence to support their suspicions. People with this disorder have trouble seeing that their dis-trustfulness is out of proportion to their environment.

And your post is devoid of any real understanding of warfare and the causation of such.

I didn't say that a war WILL happen I just said the POTENTIAL does exist for a war to happen.

I think if I'm going to take any advice about impending war; I'd rather take that info from Versus... you know. A soldier. Or perhaps myself... being that I am a vet after all. Hell, I think Jay Jang is also a vet.

I mean fuck me... if I'm going to try and consider where the next war would be, I'd be first to ask Alan or any other Marxist than some crippled isolationist peasant in KY.

Nice showing of the elitist attitude in that post.

And you hate my point because....I actually have one?

Not really.

Because the potential to go to war with other countries is lacking in the classic sense of causation for hostilities.

No. It's the same as taking medical advice from a mystical faith healer or getting information on evolution from a creationist.

There's some people that you shouldn't seek advice or information from because they're not qualified to talk about it.

It would be elitist of me to maybe seek information from Versus on guns even though I'm sure you'd be just as useful as you can do all my wikipedia searches on a particular gun. But then again... Versus has actually used them for what they're meant for and seems to have a good commanding knowledge of ballistics and everything else. Actually, no. I guess it wouldn't be elitist of me come to think of it.

Trading insults isn't going to accomplish anything.

Not that you want to do anything but bitch and gripe about how someone is wrong....without offering any real proof to your claim.

Meh. I can only speak in terms of capabilities/limitations, doctrine, and the value of a combat veteran. Motivation is pretty much a wild card and, to be honest, I don't think it matters.

Red Dawn was an intense movie. Particularly the shocking first scene where the Russians invade. It was an awesome way to make a teen action flick. And such a great cast too, of course.
