Music Finally, an entire forum devoted to talking about Doktor Avalanche, the drum machine for the Sisters of Mercy. You can talk about other bands, or other members of that band, too, if you want to be UNCOOL. |

Great Guitarists!
I love the guitar, particularly electric. Nothing like a good (tasty) jam while driving down the lame roads of Cairo.
A few of my favorites:
SLASH-GNR, Velvet Revolver.
Zach Wild- Ozzy's guitarist for Black Rain.
Carlos Santana- Kickass Mexican.
Guy from Lynyrd Skynyrd
Brendan Small- Dethklok
Guy from Disturbed
Tell me about your guitar idols, if you have any. ^_^

That list basically kicks ass.
@Duane: Don't worry about it. @_@ I have a feeling people here may hate the fact that I listen to rap sometimes.

It's cool, everyone has their opinion, and tastes. Besides, compared to some of the other guitarists I've listed, Tom and Billy aren't that good, I admit.

I totally forgot Steve Jones. He doesn't get enough credit in the annals of guitarists.

Yeah, I do too, but they helped start the genre, so I've got to give them some credit. Plus I haven't listened to them in over a year. My Ramones patch has been replaced with a Misery patch. I too HATE pop punk. It REALLY sucks.

In a way, you're absolutely right.
But then you can easily say the same about groups like the Buzzcocks or the Jam or even the Replacements (around the time of Hootenanny and beyond).
I think this says volumes about the Ramones: twenty years, over 2,000 gigs, sell-out crowds at stadiums and stuff and they never crossed over into mainstream success like the bands they inspired. Just looking at pictures of Johnny Ramone's Mosrite guitar tells anybody all they need to know about the band.
And plus, if pop punk they must be, the Ramones at least sounded like the bands that were their influences. I hear more of the Beatles, Beach Boys, and Ronettes in the Ramones music than I do in Green Day, which just sounds like everybody else trying to get in on the scene.

Never really been a fan on the Buzzcocks, Jam or Replacements. However, the one poppy band I do like is The Briefs. Destroy the USA! My mantra is noise not music (kinda). I've just always liked the harder harsher stuff. Spoon, I do agree with you though.

You'd probably like the Replacements early stuff ("Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash" and the "Stink" EP). Very melodic thrash is the best way I can describe it.

Perhaps I'll check it out. I've been listening to a crapload of MDC lately. So it'll be hard to change easily.
