Christmas ( oh dread )

my friends, If you wish tell us how your Christmas went what you did and what you got.
If you don't willingly tell us we will tickle you and make you sit on the comfy pillow.

I rather like Xmas.
A day spent entirely in PJ's and doing whatevs I want .. my 2 dogs for company.
This year I had a crazed DIY blast in the afternoon. I got frisky waiting on dinner to cook so fired up the electric saw and made a shelf. Then the 3 of us feasted .. I later regretted popping sprouts in their dins

In the evening I had a massssooof bubble bath, then dyed my hair pink.
Followed that up with movies by the fire and some furious colouring in.
One of my prezzies was a colour therapy book and felt tips .. effin great!
Was like being a kid again, only better; cos Mulled Wine was also involved.

Shit! :o

Hang on .. was this a trick question!?
Was I meant to offer a few Baaah Humbugs and snort at festivities?
Am I gonna be thrown outta the Goff Club!

*back pedals*
Um, well .. my Xmas tree is black and to be fair la Pagans owned this before the Christians stole it .. I only had pink or red dye to hand, and my PJ's ARE black!
Plus my slippers have skulls on 'em o.O

Hmmm... Did you say the Comfy Pillow?

The holidays just don't feel the same anymore.
If anything, they're just a reminder of things lost.
And the distance that time has grown between people.
I really don't look forward to New Years.

Please tell me you made the shelf WHILE wearing your PJs, and Skull Slippers.
That would be pretty BadAss.

Hope everyone has a Happy, and safe New Years.
Don't do anything I would do.

Hahaa but of course I did!
Xmas day is one long pyjama party

Thing of it is, here in the grim North it's doom & gloom.
Dark all around, barely gets light each day ..
The days are so short that it's easy to lose yourself into a depressive state.
Personally, I've dealt with depression since my teens, so I have small battles to fight during the bleak midwinter. Light is so important; hahaa even silly fairy lights cheer me, candlelight lifts my soul .. following Hallows or rather Samhain ~ the Festival of the Dead, it's hard for me to resist embarking on the attic journey to grab Xmas - or rather Yule lights & decorations. Pffft the attic is a chore of a trip for a shorty! I'm going up there to house the Hallows decs anyway .. seems daft making 2 separate trips o.O

Plus .. it honestly lifts me! I am a Goth Moth
Dark days and nights, bad weather - the cold, the rain .. storms! 70+mph wind.
The little fairy lights and candles seem to soothe <3

Hahaa my birth name comes from the Latin word for 'light' ..
Must be an inherent part of me to be drawn to it?

Oh LG ((hugs)) soz that things are rough atm!
The time between Xmas & New Years is a weird desolate 'no mans land'.
I hear ya Pr1, this really IS in truth the hardest time of year!
So many poor souls are bereft with just old ghosts of memories for company.
It's my birthday tomozz and honestly it has forever sucked.
New Years hijacked my birthday! :o LOL
The biggest fucking anticlimax for all every single year!

Sooo roll on 2016 \m/
Cos we're gluttons for punishment

Well, I did have a nice Christmas only because of seeing my family happy.

My 82 year old father has dementia and my mum who isn't much younger, has her hands full looking after him. I'm also a single parent with a five year old son. So my mum asked me to hold Christmas at my place just for the four of us. I was glad to, as it lifted the burden from her shoulders. Seeing my son unwrapping his presents and hearing my mother's laughter - even after having to constantly remind my father that he doesn't live at my place, hence the lack of combs in the bathroom. (I have a .5 hair cut)

The religious basis of Christmas means nothing to me but it's a good opportunity for me to do something nice for those I love.

After my parents had gone home my ex (my son's mother) came over and we ate the remainder of the roast followed by her delicious traditional Xmas pud with lashings of brandy sauce !!! And of course my son Zac got to open more presents. Seeing him, my mum, my ex and my pa happy made my day.

btw I've since got my dad a set of plastic combs which I keep for when they come over - a little thing but I know that It'll make him happy.

I also cooked dinner for one of my close friends on Boxing Day - a guy I've known since primary school who has on one - lots of problems and issues which have resulted in his family abandoning him.

The point of this story is that when you eventually find yourself in charge of Christmas, all the stresses and hassels of the past are long gone.

Usually, Christmas is okay for me. I could do without the music and the excessive cheeriness, but overall, it doesn't bother me. I don't even mind the insane amounts of people out and about shopping.

Not this year. This year, I have been in the lowest of moods, and it has made it difficult to get through every holiday. Even with the new year, it's been lonely and sad (though last night wasn't so bad as I managed to drag myself out to one of the few alternative clubs in my city).

Maybe everything will start to look up. Maybe not. Maybe I will continue to spiral down.

Thanks Anise, you're a darling.

Re Christmas :

Zac : "Daddy, who got me this?"

Me : "Father Christmas."

Zac : "Is Santa Claus going to bring me a present too?"

Me : "No Zachary, they are.... both the same person."

Zac : "Ohhhhhi "

Well, the kid had to find out some time.

I got loads of black clothing and beautiful gothic jewelry from my brother (he also fancies this way of life), and gift cards. Was a great holiday!
