Flour, water, eggs, sugar, butter, shortening... (oil makes them NASTY)

Cook them in the middle of the oven... make sure all your ingredients are COLD before you bake... silver reflective cookie sheet... dark sheets burn the bottom of the cookie.

Wussies? lol I take offense, I make cookies that way. or just eat the roll when I'm feeling angry at whatever cause. Eat the roll outside--flail it about like a madman, letting the pieces fall from your lips. "God damn those stinky pigs at the knitting shop." I would mumble.

No cookie is commplete without chocolate chips, or if you are desperate bluberries.
Honestly though...people go through so much trouble to make it easy for you, you only need to add the milk, make their lives worthwhile and buy the premade packets

scratch is so much better, and the secret ingredient is love (wow I almost made myself puke with that one). The real secret ingredients are applesauce and a pinch of ground cloves

I find that store-bought dough is best eaten raw.

Try sprinkling sugar, cinnamon, and allspice on top of the cookies. It's really great around X-mas time, especially.

Clove? You just made me gag. Sorry I can't stand the taste of clove in food, it reminds me way too much of star anise (WHICH I HATE WITH A PASSION) but apple sauce is an excellent suggestion!!

apple sauce keeps them nice and soft so if you like your cookies to be real crisp then it isn't the way to go. Oh and if you hate cloves so much then you can substitute a bit of cinnamon and/or ginger, that also tastes really yummy and the ginger gives them a nice little kick (just don't put in a whole bunch or it will give too much of a kick)

Red face Hmmmm.... coooookies.....

Aha! Now you've got me on my 3rd favourite topic - baking!

Here's one of my two favourites....

Chocolate refrigerator cookies
1oz sugar
2oz margarine (shortening?)
3oz cornflour (cornstarch?)
1 1/2oz cocoa
pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 to 4 tablespoons milk (any kind)
2oz coconut (optional)
1 tsp vanilla

Cream Margarine and sugar together. Add milk and vanilla. Add flour, baking powder and cocoa, then the cocnut (if using). Knead into a dough, and roll into a big sausage shape. Cover with cling film and stick in the fridge until quite solidly chilled. This'll probably take about 1 or 2 hours (you can also freeze it - hurrah!).

Either eat as it is (hmmmmm....) or cut into cookie-thickness slices (a wet knife is best, as it's quite a sticky mix), and place on a greased baking sheet. If you're needing an extra chocolatey hit, sprinkle on some chocolate chips and press them gently into the cookies - you can add walnuts too - they're rather nice...

Bake at the top of the oven at 170 degrees C (325 F) for about 12 minutes (soft cookies) or up to 25 minutes for a crispy cookie.

Thanks for that recipie Gothcock, is that your family's secret way to make them? I've tried making cookies before but they never seem to taste as nice as store bought ones. Will definitly try your recipie spookypurple, sounds yummy! All this talk of cookies is making me hungry.

I think I like your sense of humour, Jack's girl

They are good cookies...

Today I dug some dough out of the freezer that had er, been forgotten about (travesty! how could I?!), and it was pretty much just as good. And that's (blush) after two months...

Yeah, but aren't they a bit chewy?

Or are you just trolling?

By the way, what are plasentas - or even plesentas? I'm assuming they're not afterbirths, because those are placentas... similar word, hopefully something completely different?!

Hmm. I always thought it was just animals that ate placentas...unless I'm mistaken of course. Methinks he might just be trolling Spookypurple..

Yup. You're right. Time to hit the 'ignore' button.

(Apparently, eating placenta is a great way of counteracting post-natal depression)

Wish I was, but I think it would be safer to wait till I get home. If i try to cook cookies in the state my kitchen in university is I think they might mutate.
